Serious question. Is there any hope for this game to be fun again? We all know the matchmaker is a joke, but why is it that there is half of one dev working on fixing the games issues, and 400 devs working on cosmetics?
Getting placed against 3GM’s in my QP games when all my friends and I are casual players is not fun. Sitting in my base is not fun. Ranked is worse, ironically. So what is there to do? Do we just wait for PVE or just uninstall until Blizzard does something? Is there any hope at all?
(Edit) Bringing this back up almost a year later because unfortunately I was right. The game did get more fun in some ways and the change to SR again might be nice, but losing 1900 devs and the new CEO who claimed he would pull Blizzard out of the hole it was in… well, we’re back at square one again. Asking if there’s hope in sight.

Not really because if they fix the MM to work and give fair games the Q times will be huge. The way the system is set now you get a game every 2-3 minutes where you either roll or get rolled. When you roll someone its a small dopamine hit that keeps you going. All these new FPS players will not stick around waiting 8-10 minutes for a single match.

Sbmm is in qp, qp is just ranked without having you get ranked.
Okay, but why did the matchmaker work well in S1 and S2 with decent times, and now it doesn’t?
Did it? I dont think it ever worked well since the start of OW2.

Well, one brings money and the other is free. So, you know, priorities.
Also, it’s probably hard for them to know what the community really wants. If they tighten up the MM, the queue times will go way, way up and then people will complain about long wait times. If they leave it as is, then people are just in and out of games really quickly. Hopefully so quickly they forget how bad the previous match was. They’re relying on sheer numbers to hopefully make up for the bad MM by occasionally making an actual fair match.

I’m not sure. I started in S1, and this game was so fun. It felt like every game was balanced, aside from Widow, and there was always a chance to come back. Seeing a top 500 player was rare, and even Masters and GM’s were a rare sight. Now I see them in 75% of my games or more.

While people keep buying overprices skins - no.

I get that. I think I’m just sad, because I used to really love this game, and now it feels like a chore to play because I never seem to get a fair game anymore.

I think the real problem is they know the queue timers will be crazy long if they make it even. Support isn’t nearly as popular as DPS despite needing the same number of players.
This might be resolved with more support additions. Only time will tell. They also need to get Lifeweaver to a viable place.

No. The days when Blizzard was a good company with competent devs that cared about their games and players is long gone. Now all they care about is making money.
To be fair, for most people, not really, at least comparing to current q times, the problem to find people starts when its about higher ranks or just “good players”
All of us bad at the game would not have that much problem if system would really find people around same skill and not mess with stuff around.

Or just make it so you can’t play QP past Diamond LMAO
That is not good way to deal with it.
Why would QP not be for people who are at certian rank? Its more of a main mode than ranked after all… people would just not play ranked then to not be locked out of it.

Because you had more players then. The game was still shiny to them.
A lot of players got bored and uninstalled midway through S02 and in S03 onwards.
I started feeling this somewhere around the Olympus Event.
In QP most games you are gonna see will be unbalanced - whether you win or lose it always seems very one-sided. Then again comp isn’t much better, as there are a lot of trolls and leavers.

i feel there is a small possibility once the apply update bug is fixed we wont see these high up people in unranked QP anymore but i feel they do need to tweak the unranked qp to where peopel who have like platinum and above titles unlocked no matter if equipped or not they would be placed only against those with that title

I know, I was just messing. It’s hard to imagine how to fix it, but it’s why I made this post. It’s a catch-22, the lack of players makes the game worse, and the game being worse brings a lack of players. It’s one of those things that should have been right from the beginning, but from what I hear, matchmaking has never been good, even in OW1

not with 5v5, tank has too much pressure and tilt the game too much, snipers are out of control, healing and overall balance is bad, most qol features gone, MATCHMAKING being the absolute worse thing in this game. F2P was a bad idea, quality of players has dropped DRAMATICLY. failed hero designs, bad ability designs as well to ‘‘lightly troll’’ your teammates is a terrible idea and we have seen how that has played out. I think they intentionally gimped LWeaver so ppl wouldn’t cry about lifegrip trolling and missuse.

Yeah, honestly, I have the same frustrations, but maybe it’s my fault since I play with someone who is actually good at the game. The matchmaker probably just doesn’t have a choice but to dump us into M/GM/Top 500 games because he’s probably that good but I’m crap. So there’ll be like 8 really good players in the lobby and then me and some other poor random low elo player they put in the match so that there would be 2 bad players instead of just one. So, sorry to those random casuals forced to play vs all those good players because of me.
PVE is probably your personal best bet.
For the game as a whole if you don’t want GMs in your QP games (even though they have just as much right as you to be there) then fixing MM for ranked is the best way. The only reason there’s been such a massive influx of high-rank players into QP is because ranked just sucks at higher ranks, with there being really no reason to grind once you reach GM1 because there’s nothing to work towards.
