I’ve been playing XCOM: Enemy Within over the last week, and psionics are a pretty important story element in it, as well as a mechanic players can utilize in their fight against the alien invaders. Now, while aliens would probably not be in Overwatch’s future, that doesn’t mean psionics would be completely out of the question. Starcraft might already have them in droves, but that shouldn’t restrict Overwatch.
If we were to get a psionic hero, what kind of story do you think could make it work?
psionic as “a human that has superpower” or “a human that has superpower which is to read mind”?
If it’s the former one then overwatch already has reaper. His ability is rather psionic and supernatural (even though it was engineered).
If it’s the latter one then that person can have a multiple possibilities. However, due to the importance of a character who can read minds and stuff then the one that most likely to happen is:
Join overwatch
He/She is saved/protected/recruited from his/her powers or overwatch and wants to join them. This one seems more likely to happened if he/she has yet to be or already captured by talon. By some inspiration or something else, this person wants to be a hero like overwatch.
Join Talon
If the person already screwed up from the first place, then this will happened. Or he/she will become a solo villain.
Keep running away
He/She did not want to participate in any activities relating to overwatch or talon, so this person keeps running.
Between all of those possibilities I like the third one the most since it has the most potential to develop even more lore before he/she decides to take path 1 or 2.
