Is there an Overwatch rule that im not allowed to curse

I am using terms that contain curse words, and i get a warning for abusive chat after a match or two, is cursing against the terms of service of Overwatch or something, or do people get offended so easily that i might as well not even play the game if people cant deal with banter and satire. 600 hours + and i get suspended for using a bad word. Uninstall incoming?

Using a word? No. I use them constantly. Calling people a word? That’s something else. Using a racial slur? Also something else.

If you can a ban, it’s because people reported you, which makes me think that maybe you did more than just type FCK FCK F*CK a bunch of times in chat, yeah?

You don’t get banned for using explicit words. I use them all the time.

But I have a feeling you intentionally left a few details out.

In Blizzard’s Code of Conduct:
Hate speech and discriminatory language is inappropriate, as is any obscene or disruptive language.

so one or two swears is most likely okay, but don’t make a full sentence out of them.

And don’t swear /at/ someone and use curse word when talking about them.

I mean, just about everyone will let the f-bomb drop or say other expletives when they die, and I don’t think people get reported for that.
But if you’re a little over-the-top with your language, it shouldn’t come as a surprise. Especially if it’s directed at another player or player(s).

As a rule, I tend not to banter with other people unless they open the door first. There are some ungodly sensitive people playing OW.

You talk about people getting offended easily, but you’re saying you’re going to uninstall because you got a warning. That makes it seem like you are easily offended.

There’s a difference between banter/satire and being outright rude and mean. Just because you don’t have a problem with something, that doesn’t mean everyone thinks the same way. You are playing with random people, not close friends. If you can’t watch your words while playing, then turn off voice chat or mute your microphone.

Yup.
I usually swear at my actions, because I realized how extremely idiotic what I did was. But I don’t swear at other people. And if I realize I’m in a swearing mode, I mute my microphone. People don’t need to hear my long lines of cursing or my random high pitched screeches of annoyance.

Just don’t be a jerk and you’ll be fine. If you die and yell out something, it’s very, very, very unlikely that someone will go “oh my goodness he said a swear” and go through the work of reporting you.

Now if you cuss out someone in particular, now that just not gunna fly. Alot of people play games to get away from jerk people in everyday life, not to be bothered by rude remarks online. If you can’t say something nice to other people, or aren’t discussing strategy or battle plans, don’t say anything at all to them :man_shrugging:

To put it in the most PG terms I possibly can…

You’re being an A-hole. That’s why you get in trouble. I guarantee it.

Not just cursing; basically say anything at all negative and you can end up with an account suspension for abusive chat. Hell, you could even just be false reported into a suspension. Ask me how i know!

Yes, profanity is not allowed in Blizzard chats. How did you not know this ? Do you not read the EULA and TOS that came up when you installed ? You should read things like that before clicking accept.

I see this is another ‘Healer late to the party’ thread.

Why did we revive a 2 year old thread?

No one gets suspended for using bad words. You are probably insulting others/being toxic and that is why you got suspended.

I got permanently suspended 2 days ago for saying “pussy xd”. in the appeal all they do is redirect you to their policies and eula. i’m waiting a week and reappealing then maybe =p.
no links for your own knowledge sorry
my appeal " your game is rated T for teen ( store page link) due to blood, mild language, use of tobacco, and violence. in your in-game policies ( policies ) " While we encourage you to report players that are behaving in a disrespectful manner, falsely reporting another player with the sole intent of restricting their gameplay is also unacceptable and will result in penalties to your account." and in ( eula link) “Harassment, “griefing,” abusive behavior or chat, conduct intended to unreasonably undermine or disrupt the Game experiences of others, deliberate inactivity or disconnecting, and/or any other activity which violates Blizzard’s Codes of Conduct or In-Game Policies.” censor the words if you don’t want it typed and a permanent suspension for typing pussy in a video game is ridiculous."
