Is there a way to test your latency before heading into a game

usually my ping is around 40ms

sometimes it will bounce rapidly between 40ms and 210sm, back and forth, really fast.

I don’t mind so much, but is there any way to check to see if the will happen before I enter a game?

thanks

Hop into the practice range or make a custom game. Everything is run on their servers so it should be an accurate estimate of what your ping will be in a normal match.

You can use netstat -a in a command prompt window when Overwatch is running to find the server you’re connecting to, and then use ping or tracert to test your connection.

Are you using a wireless connection? That can introduce a whole lot of instability and latency.

Additionally, you should remember that the in-game latency displayed is higher than what your pings will be. They changed it a couple years back, and now they include RTT in the number, iirc.

The practice range appears to use a different server than regular games, based on IP and latency.

I stand corrected.
