Is there a way to tell if ISP is throttling your connection?

I’m on Ethernet cable and sometimes when I play Overwatch, enemies move smooth and at a normal speed that I can easily shoot at. Other times, frame drops cause enemy movement speed to be on the cusp of teleporting in place, tracking is almost impossible and I literally have to shoot into empty air to land shots where I anticipate enemies will be because of the wacky latency.

This seems to go off and on throughout the day, and I don’t know if there’s an issue with Overwatch’s servers, or the connection to other players in the match (possible lag compensation? or players with bad connections far from the servers?), or if there’s something sus going on with my ISP. I heard ISP’s have been throttling gaming connections since Net Neutrality was nixed, is there a good way to confirm whether or not this is happening? I’ve done browser speed tests and saw the ping go anywhere from 25 to 35, and the download speed jump anywhere from 70 to 125 Mbps.

OW doesn’t seem very unstable right now, so it might be throttling… which sucks cause I hate throttling. I’m sure you can look for online resources to check though…
Feels bad man.
Do you use a VPN? Cause if so, it might be a hardware issue, or OW.
The best way to figure out if your being throttled is to run a speed test on a VPN, then without one. If the VPN speeds are significantly faster then without one, you’re most likely being throttled.

Yeah that sounds like you’re being throttled, are you with sky broadband by any chance, I personally would go with BT broadband, pretty sure that they don’t Throttle but I could be wrong about that

Someone with better credentials can correct me if I’m wrong, but:

They have been moving to google-youtube servers. Part of their grand plan to partner up with that ecosystem at all levels. Unfortunately, those servers seem to route more poorly and architecture is optimized for throughput, not latency. Great for videos, not so great for high-intensity gaming.

I’m gonna miss my gaming packets. Guess I’ll just noreg 4 rockets and rubber band back to spawn.

This and on top of alot of people being home and using bandwith and things there thanks to “You know”(Which I’m currently at home with…) I’m sure there’s been alot of lag and drops too.

It was super noticable when it all started, less so now but it’s still there.
