Tired of games at/near 1000SR that have Platinum Smurfs in the matches.
My own teammate told us… “Hey, I’m high gold/Platinum… I’m Smurfing hard”.
So I ask the guy to leave the game and not ruin it for the rest of us… but he stayed.
So, I left and got banned.
This guy went from 2400 SR (ish) to 700 SR… and Blizzard bans me and leaves this other guy alone.
How I am the problem? I don’t want to play with cheaters. I don’t want my kid to play with cheaters. I don’t want to tell my kid that it is OK to cheat… but nothing happens to these guys.
So, Blizzard. Are you OK with all the cheating going on? If so, I am never buying another one of your games.
Short answer to the original question: No. in comp, you leave the game, you get an SR penalty, and are put on a comp cooldown.
To the additional question that this devolved into, make sure that you report this player if you see him again. Smurfing is a problem, and Blizz might look into it if there enough reports. What he was doing definitely takes away from the fun of the game and the competition, so it should be ban-worthy.
Just make sure to report him/ players like him next time. It might not feel like anything happens because of it, but it’s the only tool you have.
No.
Leaving a comp game is putting your team at an unfair advantage, and thus getting you a penalty for doing so.
EDIT: Holy crap WyomingMyst actually liked this post I have been blessed
I’m going to give a real suggestion here. Wait until the last few moments in the game and stand idle. Stand idle in spawn and move every now and again. You can also just run around looking at the map. A way I have seen is play Lucio and just charge around practicing your dodging.
There is no way for them to prove e “Intentionally lost” That would require brain reading technology. The drop in SR is at best circumstantial evidence and not enough to ban someone unless they can get a video of him saying that.
In that case you should tweet the video to OW twitter account.
Standing idle, but moving to avoid the afk timer is also reportable, and does nothing to solve any problems. This and leaving games early are both worse than smurfs.
It’s an automatic penalty for leaving. It doesn’t matter the circumstances, and there is also no real way to prove that someone is smurfing. If you believe they are, report them, as intentionally throwing rank is considered game sabotage.
(Leaving is also game sabotage. Don’t leave your matches and expect nothing to come from it / complain that something happened because you left a game that cannot replace you making it 5v6 and ruining a game for 11 people)
There is no way to leave without losing points. You shouldn’t leave since its always better to try your best and attempt to win. By leaving you made it a 4v6 instead of a maybe 5 1/2v 6 . Believe it or not, there isn’t some crazy amount of smurfs. Most people lie about being smurfs
