Is there a way to only mute voiceline spam?

I understand the ‘squelch chat’ achieves this but that also mutes the persons text chat which id rather not do for obvious reasons

Right now the game mutes a person for a few seconds after they spam a voiceline 4 times. Even for people like me who ENJOY voiceline spam.

Blizzard apparently believes that giving players the ability to mute just voicelines would create total panic, pandemonium, and pantomime. Possibly another Pearl Harbor as well.

Maybe a client side only would work…

i’ve been hearing non-stop VL spam since the last patch, it feels like the spam filter just doesn’t work anymore

Well, I atleast know that when I spam voicelines I get a message telling me that I’ve been muted for a few seconds, as voice line spam can be distracting (according to Blizzard).

But I can’t confirm whether or not it actually mutes me for others. Also if so it’s only a couple second ban, then back to spam. We really need a way to mute voice lines only, it’s a perfect solution.

it’s genuinely baffling there isn’t a way to do it already, especially considering blizzard themselves have acknowledged how annoying it can be by automatically muting spammers in the past

See, Blizzard understands that choice is like money. The more you give someone else, the less you have.

The more someone else gives you, the more you have. I suppose it’s also like Tracer’s feet in that regard.

But yeah it’s crazy how they’ve acknowledged the problem many times, yet haven’t given us the OBVIOUS solution. If I wanna hear spam, and you don’t, all we need is a “Mute Voice Lines” button.

Yeah right now the only way to automatically mute those voice lines is the setting in game voice volume. The problem with that is you put it to 0 and then can’t hear ult voice lines. I really wish they’d split in game voice volume into4 categories sort of like the subtitles

-critical gameplay (ult voice lines, heroes taking damage, ability voice lines)

-communication wheel/ ping lines

-conversations(the random things your character or other characters blurt out or say to each other in spawn room)

-voice lines

Because I would love to mute all voice lines and conversations but keep the important stuff. There’s enough audio clutter in the game already and it’s sometimes hard to hear what’s actually important.

they sell voicelines for real money. aint no way they’re going to allow you to mute them. Same reason you cant skip the end cringe in a game like BF2042

Imo if you’re hearing voice line spam during a fight then you aren’t doing enough shooting.

maybe they can make a “pay to block chat feature”

I squelch, cause if they are spamming voicelines, then they prolly have nothing useful to say anyways

it’s usually during the preparation phase but even there it’s annoying as hell

Nope, overwatch is a game with no modding community at all so forget about changing any visual related settings in this game outside the options menu.

For me the the best way to deal with spammers is to simply mute them and move on.
Life is too good to waste on arguing about SPAM.

Recently, I came across some interesting insights from Overwatch players in my community. One player admitted :
I know It’s annoying and that is why we do it … we like to piss people off and its a great achievement for us … if that said person actually gets mad enough to make a post about or start crying in chat… The more it annoys you, the more we want to do it… Crying about it just gives us more motivation to keep doing it… the salty tears are delicious.
It was an eye-opener to hear that for them, the more annoyed we get, the more motivated they are to continue.

Another friend humorously shared, ‘I swear sometimes I hear the spams in my dreams,’ recounting how certain phrases echoed in his mind “and dey say” even during sleep.
It just goes to show the bizarre impact spam can have on him!" lool

I am beginning to hate April Fools in their game. There is almost always 1 person who does nothing put spam lines.
