almost all my games as a high master/low gm player are 3600 or lower games with diamond players.
Like im playing with 3300 peak players, this isnt fun.
Seriously, i understand, nobody plays the game anymore, but id rather wait an hour for a game than have to play with and against diamond players.
Im not even the worst case of it. Ive seen #250 players in 3600 games. Right now #250 is around 4300-4350.
It’s something with the role queue matchmaking system, but I’m not sure what it is to be honest.
I’ve seen both masters and plats in games together, and even I’ve experienced some odd matches. For example, my tank was like 3680 and I somehow got paired in game with Muma, who was easily 4.2k+ at the time.
Nearly every match is a mismatch, but they seem to balance out and the games tend to be rather close anyways without any of them being total blowouts.
It’s an odd matchmaking system for sure, but from what I’ve seen it manages to make matches balanced, even if they don’t appear to be.
It happens in QP too. My matches yesterday were REALLY skewed. Like HORRIBLY messed up to the point that I’m sure it had to be a glitch in the system.
There were Diamond - Top 500 people in my QP games. I just kept getting destroyed over and over. I’d leave spawn as Mercy, just instantly die to a Masters Genji / Doomfist. Like … I don’t even know what the matchmaker is doing.

So yeah, OW is still great and all but … games like that are not fun. I’m all for playing against slightly better opponents from time to time in order to learn and improve, but when you literally can’t play the game because you’re getting stomped so hard … yeeeeeah.

Yeah, but then there are people (like me) on the other side of the spectrum who’d rather wait for a fair game.
I know the queue times are insane in Masters+ comp. But as for QP / low lvl comp, I’m fine with 10 min+ queues as long as the match feels fair.
If I want quick games I’ll go to Arcade. XP
It was inevitable. The only quick fix for long queue times is to increase the pool of players that you can play with.
Either you wait an hour for a match or you play with diamonds.
You’re the minority, really.
I mean, they can broaden the pool without completely ruining the experience for some people. I’m a Silver level player currently. I should never ever ever be matched with or against anything above Plat (maaaybe Diamond on a slow day).
That’s way different. Master/GM players can wait for much longer than lower ranks.
I expect they will be quietly tweaking the parameters for a while yet so you never know what you might get. They will try to balance between reasonable queue times and better match-making. It would be interesting to see how things vary between peak and off times, weekday vs weekend etc.

Some diamond player might be better than you.

i play QP only but the matchmaker is completely broken, matching people from PLAT to TOP500 together… it’s beyond ridiculous.
They very well might be, but if I lose a 3600 game as a 4K player, I lose 30-35 sr per game, and gain 15-18.
Not just that but I don’t like to play with diamonds. It’s just not fun. I earned GM and I think I should be able to play with and against other gms.
Who cares what sr you are. All games are the same for me. As soon as it looks like its imbalaced. Or people arent trying im done. Ill just spam primary fire till its over.
Genuinely who cares any more. I want fun games. If 1 person is feeding, im done.
My first guess is Blizzard’s match making is probably desperately trying to find matches with 2-2-2 in place. It’s just not going to be sustainable at this rate.
Can honestly say I have not been matched with Diamond players in a long time (certainly since role queue). Either OP is playing at trough hours, is on dead servers, it was a one-off thing, or he’s full of it. I highly doubt that it could be “every game”.

That’s not an RQ addition. QP matchmaking has always been like this.
The difference is, that before RQ when there was a Master/GM in a game full of gold players, you could argue that he was playing an off hero.
Now with seperate MMR/SR it became clear that it is indeed just garbage Matchmaking.
RQ addition made most skilled players leave this game lol
