hey there ! I played the game for a bit when it released but quickly dropped it because no one was even trying to play as a team and i don’t think the game is interesting with people playing it like CoD.
though i recently discovered that the game now has a function to make you queue for a specific role, and so i’m willing to give it another try !
but i’m hearing everywhere that the game is dead so i’m coming to ask, does the game have a player base big enough to get decent queue times and more importantly balanced matches ?
honest answers will be much appreciated !
thank you !
People say OW is dead because there’s not a lot of online hassle about it but it’s actually one of the most played competitive games out there along with CS:GO, LoL and DotA 2
Don’t worry, the player base is big enough unless you’re playing on Switch from Australia

if ur gold or plat then yes. if ur diamond then u might get like 5 mins qs. if ur higher then it gets worse. also if ur dps its even worse.
Can you play the game yes, will you have fun? Debatable. Lack of team work, apathy to wining or losing etc is higher than ever. People just don’t care any more. No one is in LFG most the day, no one joins voice chat. People refuse to even remotely switch hero’s if their countered or the map doesn’t favor them.
Not saying you have to be 100% gung ho about winning but it’s about as far from being a “competitive” game as possible. People care more about winning a game of candy crush.
alright thanks for the replies !
i’m reassured about the player base size, a bit worried about what Vilkath said, but yeah i’m gonna try and see how it goes !
Thanks a lot for the replies !
To be fair Vilkath’s comment could be applied to any competitive game, be strong and don’t let other players’ negativity keep you down and you’ll enjoy the unique experience this game offers you, good luck

People who call Overwatch “dead” have clearly never played a truly dead game. Overwatch’s population isn’t even small for that matter.
Does it have problems? Yes. Is it on the decline? Arguably also yes, though that likely will be made moot once OW2 drops. But low player-base is the last thing in the world you need to worry about anytime in the near future.
