Is the map voting system broken?

Just played two games, minority won both map vote, (8vs2) and (5v1). Just give me random map, waste my time to vote

Wouldn’t be shocked. I mean, look at the other bugs this patch brought. Not playing until this crap is fixed.

I thought it was a bug too. Then another feed said it’s designed this way. So no idea.
We had New Junk City, Midtown, and Havana, only 2 people voted Midtown. The rest Havana.
We got Midtown lol

What happened in your third, fourth and fifth game? Did you read the patch notes?

They said votes don’t guarantee the map.

Watch how it works. All votes do is make it’s section of the roulette wheel bigger, so it just increases the chance.

Devs quite literally told you in updates this was the case. It is even in the patch notes…

General Updates
Map Voting

  • Map voting is a new feature that gives players more agency about what map they would prefer to play on.
  • At the start of every Quick Play or Competitive Match, three maps will appear, and each player will cast a single vote on the map they will want to play.
  • During the Map Voting phase, match text and voice channels are disabled. Team chat is enabled.
  • Votes for each map from all players are then displayed and the game will then “roll” to see which vote is selected.
  • Maps with more votes are more likely to be selected but maps with less votes can still be selected if the roll lands on one of the votes for the map with less votes.
    If players vote overwhelmingly for a single map, that map is automatically selected.
  • After Map Voting in Competitive Play, the Hero Ban phase will begin.

It might be a bug that a single vote or a double vote gets picked.
Because this says an overwhelming vote should get picked.

If 9 out of 10 players vote one map, isn’t that an overwhelming vote?
I think it s a bug that the single vote counts in that situation.

That’s fair. Just makes zero sense to me to even have “voting”.
Imagine in an election if they just rolled the dice lol

It’s just rng, in worst case a map will have 10% chance to be chosen (or 90% chance to not be chosen).
If you have ever played any Xcom, you know that 95% and 97% chances are still pretty much 50/50

I think they mean 10/10 for that. As it plays out like a roulette wheel.

But your right their wording sucks. Overwhelming should be a big majority. So 8 votes would be that in my books.

I don’t think I’ve voted. I’m usually just doing something else on another screen while that’s up. Or making a drink.

Each vote just adds a 10% chance for that map to be picked. If a map doesnt get votes then its out - though if no map gets votes then i guess it randomizes between them all.

Every vote should have gone to New Junk City, it’s the best map out of all of them by a country mile.

I mean…it doesn’t make ZERO sense. Having a map picked 9 times out of 10 times is still something…

It doesn’t make any sense to not have a map with 9 votes get picked 100% of the time though, I’ll give you that. I mean, it makes sense, but I don’t like it. And I’m guessing 9 out of 10 people would agree with me, lol.
