The thing is those that died would mostly die in old.dragon too.
The dragon is 90% zoning tool, +3 mts is not enough to make it more killable but enough to reduce zoning time.

Have you played Hanzo much since the change and you don’t see much more kills?
Has everyone here who are guessing/theorycrafting, experience less kills, equal kills, more kills with dragon?
We can talk a lot about the theory of it but how has it been in practice?
I might run some Hanzo only on my alt and see how it feels.
I checked the dragon change for a few matches like it kills fast when you wall them which you are mostly doing but the amount of time it gets kills that u wouldn’t have gotten with old dragon is really less, for me it was like one or two every other match.
But the zoning time lost is something you can really feel.
Like having the dragon close a route in ot is really valuable.
A lot of time it’s the time you buy till your tank rgs in a contest etc.
Ah okay that’s fair enough.
At this point they should bring back dmg boost from mercy/nano to dragon. Then it would make the dragon much better if you cooperate with your teammates.
I personally liked dragon as it was nothing wrong with it, it was always a zoning tool with some nice combos or timing kills.
They could just increase tics to make up for hp increases.
I don’t like being dependent on mercy for everything.
By all means take it as anecdotal,
But im absolutely seeing Hanzo secure more kills with his ultiamte now than previously.
Yes it “lingers” in an area for less time than it used to, but I think it was often so slow that it was impressively easy to avoid ever being killed by his ult. Unless they were snared / graved / happened to be in a super small hall way- You were probably getting away- And Idve argued its real “strength” was in area denial. Like sure not going to kill anyone with it, but itll get people out of the area / off payload / whatever, and hopefully you could eliminate them elsewhere.
With the increased speed though? Im actually seeing people cant get out of the way quick enough- and im seeing way more eliminations with it.
Still not a great ult, but at least for now my initial impression is that its been more effective for eliminations.
They should have made it slower and this could be a real buff.
Faster dragon just relies upon luck and the misplay on the enemy side, while slower dragon can be used to take/hold space. It’s more about skill, tactic/strategy.
But it seems the devs encouraged simple and ez gameplay since OW2 and this way might fit for their purpose.
It’s a buff in that It’s more likely to hit someone because it moves faster
Playing hanzo ive gotten more kills with dragon since the patch, people can’t move out of the way more often
honestly it’s kind of incredible to watch the balance team prove in real-time that they have 0 clue what they’re doing
Would the obvious solution not be to make it longer so that it overall covers the same areas as before just as long but still moves towards its destination faster?
It was certainly a random change. Idk how they come up with these patches at this point; I can’t even imagine a dartboard coming up with this.
Been happening since team 4.5 after a ton of their talent with passion for the game left.
Its not a nerf, its an adjustment. The point of the ult is less to zone people now and to instead actually use it as a way to kill a person or two, as its now fast enough to actually punish bad positioning.
This being said this is a classic inept Blizzard change as not one person ever asked for this or addressed the issues Hanzo has as a problem with his ultimate.
Blizzard has had a season and a half to get all the community feedback, and somehow landed on this being the change to make. These people need to be fired into the sun, they are so useless.
Either give Hanzo his one shot back you absolute mongrels or put out the message saying “Sorry for the sad, pathetic, braindead changes to your hero. We will be reworking him to be built around the fact that he can no longer one shot soon”
Since as it stands his oneshot was still a major part of his identity and design, with it just gone he doesnt work as well.
And if the way to properly play your hero becomes “Duo with a pocket Mercy” your game is trash, fix it you scrungaloids.
Well, yeah?
I mean, if it isn’t killing anyone and it isn’t zoning anymore, what is the strength of that ultimate?
I understand they are moving it in the direction of being more deadly instead of strictly for zoning, but if it’s in the limbo between the two where it does not do either of those things well, I would imagine that complaints about it are justified lol
I’d say its mostly a nerf but i don’t play hanzo so idk. As a tank player the main strenght has always seemed to be zoning. A slow dragon that splits the enemy team gives you a lot oppurtunities. I rarely see it kill people outright but it often leads to won fights anyway. Also you got less time to boop people into it now.
An easy fix would just be to increase the lenght so the zoning time stays the same.
