Is the Bronze 5 Bug going to be addressed?

This is clearly an issue, there have been numerous bug reports about accounts losing multiple ranks or being stuck in bronze 5. Would like to know if the dev team has said anything, acknowledged it or are they just focused on cash shop cosmetics?

Nothing personal, but what makes you think you aren’t genuinely ranked Bronze 5?

its not a bug, its just they are soo deep in bronze it would take a 15-20 games winstreak to get out.

Same for people who were at the <500 SR in OW1

Were you bronze in ow1?

I was gold in OW1. Tho the last 2 seasons I dropped to silver, but didn’t play many games and was just messing around.

OW2 dropped everyone a couple of ranks as a soft reset. So Gold and some Plat folk placed in Bronze, along with all the bronze people.

It took me about 150 games to climb back into gold. It was very frustrating. Because mixed in with the close games were a bunch of steamrolls (wins and losses). I guess that is because RNG meant we were facing up against team of people that were high gold or plat, or even new players to OW2 that are cracker dps from other games.

Work through it, notice the games that are easy wins, and remember that when you get those annoying losses, blame RNG but recognize that over time it will balance out.

Good luck

So the calculations that have been done basically have found that Bronze 5 is 1100 SR. If you are below that, you have to win games until you hit that mark. If you’re starting from zero, you have a lot of games to win.

You are probably not ā€˜stuck’ in Bronze 5. You just haven’t climbed past 1100 SR yet.

Granted, Blizz hasn’t come out and confirmed any of this, but people that are far smarter than I have figured this out, and it lines up with my personal experience.

Recognizing how awful your average OW player is would easily place you in silver 5. The problem is that a 6 (now 5) player team game can aggressively inflict nonsense outside your control on you to make you lose games.

Yes. Yes, we all get it, both teams have equal odds of it happening to them. That’s not what I’m questioning. I’m questioning if it’s fun to basically drag teams to victory over their own objections. The answer to which is usually something like, ā€œno, not really.ā€ If it’s not a tank with a death wish, it’s DPS and support who won’t do anything.

Insisting that everybody else on their team is awful actually lowers my estimation of a person’s SR. That’s classic Bronze 5 behavior right there. Lots of people who were actually good got dropped into Bronze 5 at launch - but they got out of it nearly instantly.

It’s already been fixed, champ.

That’s not what I said. Read what I wrote again.

You implied that being able to recognize that everyone else is bad somehow elevates you above Bronze. I think it’s completely the opposite. Feeling like their teammates are the reason they keep losing is an extremely common characteristic of a hard stuck bronze player.

Understanding that the average player is bad and thinking that’s why you lost are mutually exclusive ideas. Or at least that’s the point I was trying to broadcast. I don’t really get how you could hold both positions either- if most players are bad, and you’re hard stuck, that reflects on you.

Instead I just wanted to point out that I find sitting in the dentist chair while they scrape your teeth with metal implements more appealing than the butt clenching sweat-fest trying to carry a team can turn into.

I received Bronze 4 after 17 cycles of >50% W/L and being in Bronze 5. Then I continued to get >50% W/L and was placed back into Bronze 5. Now two additional placements have gone by and I’m still Bronze 5.

I play around half of my matches with friends who range from Silver 2 to Gold 4.

I can’t say I’m not whether or not I’m supposed to be Bronze, but without seeing my SR I have no way of knowing. I’ve seen many others say they deranked in OW2 from Gold to Bronze 5, something seems very off.

I think the new ranks are just a thin layer over SR, so you would see the same thing. If you’re playing with friends in other ranks that makes it trickier for the matchmaker. If the game thinks your team is more likely to win than to lose, you’ll get less SR for winning, and lose more SR for losing. So winrate alone doesn’t tell you the whole story.
