everytime i see a widowmaker on the enemy team, i instant swap to sombra because i’m petty.
i get tons of hate from the enemy widowmakers in game chat for countering with sombra, in my defense, does anyone actually like playing against good widowmakers?
Playing Widow is toxic already so I wouldn’t worry about it.
Sombra counters Widow, and the DPS roster has more options in it than any other. It’s nothing like going Orisa into Doom.
I have no clue if it is toxic; however, I am not above abusing Sombra if their Widowmaker can land shots. It is easier to just get the free kill than try and beat them at their own hero. Especially because a lot of them are XiM. Blizzard claimed they could detect the cheaters, and despite that, people are still doing it. What a surprise!
That’s not toxic, you’re just playing to win. If they can’t handle basic game mechanics then it’s on them.

Nah but seriously eff Widow. When I still played somewhat regularly Sombra was my go-to DPS against Widow.
haha yeah, but it’s actually a crazy amount of aggressiveness that is coming from widowmakers that i counter with using sombra. every time i counter any hero with any other hero i never get toxic comments towards me, besides me countering widow with sombra.

Swapping to Sombra is not toxic, but every time you do it you’re defeating yourself.
fair enough, but if i have to play against a mercy damaging boosting widow, i’m swallowing any dignity that i have and i will target both of them the entire game.
If it’s a bad Widow I’ll let them get some practice and have them low priority. A good Widow team carrying though will be priority 1 and usually has a pocket which has to die first.
No, because counterswapping is a big part of this game (whether we enjoy that mechanic or not is irrelevant.)
A widow creates more space than any tank. Trying to hard counter her just makes sense.
since i play both widow and sombra i have had some interesting matchups against them as well
widow vs widow on my part is usually ok if the other widow beats me then fine. im not gonna switch since i would kind of feel cheap a bit but its funny that in some games that in some matchups the enemy widow beats me in the first phase of the game but later i start to get back at them. then there comes out the sombra lol
depending on how i do ill stay widow into sombra but as soon as i see its getting effective for them ill switch to sombra myself and then its the funny sombra vs sombra duel.
winning and losing these matches are fun for me actually. i have an advantage tho on some of those encounters since i play both heroes regurarly so if the other widow switches sombra but never plays her and i do as well its a win for me most of the time
Widows normally swap into bastion or reapers within 1 minute of me being winston.
i have a replay of a widow vs widow match up in competitive where a widow kind of out snipes me in the first half of round 1 but then i start to turn it around and when the 1st round of payload ends the enemy widow switches to mccree BUT his teammate decides to go sombra to counter me.
little did they know that i knew a sombra would happen next round i go sombra as well. there lifeweaver decides to go afk at the end tho which was a grave mistake for him because im sombra
last minute i end up destroying lifeweaver then help finish off zen and then kill the tank that went doomfist for some reason lol

No it’s not toxic. In fact I encourage anyone that can to do this. A good Widow ruins the game for most people. The only one having fun is her. I do this myself and will dedicate my time to forcing them to switch (most don’t as they’re stubbon). Taking cover is not really an option since it’s an objective based game and you have to come out eventually.
A good Sombra can make it miserable to play against, but at least can be played around. The maps enable Widow too much.
If their widow is mowing you down, and you playing sombra forces them to switch off widow… that sounds like a good thing, right?

On long range maps, get after the widow y’all. I hate when those maps turn into widow vs widow sniper snoozefests. Eff that, go Sombra and force the swap. Or just make their lives as miserable as possible. She is too powerful on long range maps.
It’s not toxic. It’s just the game. But keep in mind it’s arguably the hardest hard counter in the game. But supports peeling for the widow makes things very balanced in that exchange. But good luck with that. Most widows get 10-30s to prove themselves and if you can’t you’re deemed useless and left to die all game.
If you’re good enough you can force a Sombra player to swap instead.
