Just wanna know now that I’m back in diamond third time this season, is sr gain and loss variable? Cause last time i got on a loss streak, I dropped to plat 3 in one competitive update. Coming up seems much faster than going down.
It is but not buy much. 1-5 sr compared to 20 for win.
Also diamond above apparently doesn’t get individual performance sr but I think that was change for OW2. Not sure.
From what I’ve seen the devs say recently, it’s actually not.
It definitely does vary per game and it’s what’s frustrating many players. SR gain seems to mostly depend on the sr disparity between you and the enemy team.
MMR on the other hand also takes into account your individual performance. The higher your MMR the more likely you are put into higher ranked games where you can rank up faster.
i think it punishes me EVEN HARDER if i lose a game in a low lobby, but tanking in low lobbies is far more difficult than plat and diamond. i think it takes just a few losses in a row for me to be tanking in gold lobbies despite still being diamond, so this is actually an issue. anyways, still diamond 4 for now, let’s see how this goes.
They said performance based SR doesn’t even exist anymore
not like it has made a huge difference in the past anyway
That’s basically it. If you lose games you were favored to win (like being a higher MMR than the average MMR of the lobby) you will take a bigger hit to your SR and the penalty will be greater. If you win games you were already favored to win, your SR is adjusted less than if it were for winning games you were not favored to win.
So basically, if you get on a win streak against teams you were not favored to win - that’s when you’ll see the biggest gains. Losing in games you were favored to win will have a more severe penalty.
