Is spychecking for sombra a valid strategy now?

Before you shoot her, she just teleports away. Now, she’s dead. Get a character with a shotgun or a beam?

On my side, as sombra, it’s made playing very fun. especially when they get a bunch of people chasing you. And you’re teleporting around.

It is especially on certain heroes.

Dva, Brig, Mei and sym are top tier at it.

Hanzo too, because sonic arrow.

And yes, it is a valid strategy.

If I get one of those mad Dva players that constantly check every angle, I am probably swapping off Sombra. Not going to lie. I ain’t about that life. If she that serious about it, I will just accept that it was not meant to be.

As Reaper, I have been spy checking and it works quite often because I have a lot of Sombra experience. Not always, though. I went up against one that was never in any obvious spots. Well played to them, but it did not work out regardless. It’s rough out there.

Lukewarm take, Mei is top tier full stop tbh

Not really, no. I consider it counter-productive to spycheck for Sombra. I prefer to just have a really fast reaction time to sort of swivel around and force her to retreat.

It always was for heros that can spam large areas easily its just far better for far more heros now. If you are playing Cass or Ashe its useless to be trying to spy check. DVa, Brig, Sym, Mei, etc… if you can cover a big area very quickly during downtime its worth doing. Even if you don’t catch her you make it far harder for her to setup.

For hanzo moira mei torb sym yes.

Like anyone can if they have time but it’s not preferable to be too distracted due to this.

Also dva used to be the main spy checker, but it’s not preferable now as you are the only tank.

Like you can do a bit between fights in downtime but focus tanking.

For most other heroes just position in a way you can react than waste time predicting her, cause the creep is watching you giggling.

As hanzo against good sombra’s the sonic is used more as a zoning tool than spy check, like prevent her using the best path.

It’s more of telling of sombra don’t come this way than finding sombra, but when you do this you know which way she will come next more easily.

I can’t tell if you’re vying for spychecking or against it. I personally think it’s better because it’s no longer an instant “get out of jail free” card. It’s also much more fun to duck, dive, and dodge than it is to sit by a health pack, waiting for heals.

Me as Tracer ruining my accuracy shooting around like a crackhead and never actually hitting a Sombra :skull:

I think you can spy check on anyone with spread. Tracer, Sombra, any shotgun, etc.

She’s much more of an evil Tracer now

Ofcourse you can even fan with cas , I was talking more from the perspective of who should be doing it.

I sometimes even spam zero charge hanzo shots of I don’t have sonar and i feel stalker is there.

That’s true. I just feel like the more precise heroes have it much harder. I can spray in a circle around me on Tracer in under a second and check 360°. I can’t check every spot with arrows or Cree bullets

If Brig is close enough to flail Sombra, I imagine she’s close enough to be seen. Whipshot seems like a long cooldown to reliably check with.

Not really, no. Sombra would be just outside of Brig’s radius, and due to the nature of Brig’s kit, you don’t really have time to be chasing after a Sombra.

As Brig, your aim is to ensure Sombra gets no value by forcing a retreat every time she tries to target you or a teammate.

Moira can’t spy check… D.va is still the best spy checker because of her spray, tracer too.
Moira’s beam doesn’t latch onto sombra if she’s invis.

if you have high sens which you should on moira its easy.
Dva i find if she starts spy checking esp they get distracted from tank duties nowadays but its just my subjective opinion.

I was playing Dva in a tournament once and spraying all over the place constantly to spycheck for the enemy Sombra. I did manage to catch her every time and I thought it was just an inconvenience but I later found out it was integral to their planned strategy and I cost them 2 minutes of their attack. Their coach gave them a different strategy after that game.

(We still lost obviously )
