Im a mid silver player and I am finding it ridiculously hard to get value. Now my aim is not the best, but even in perfect conditions it almost feels pointless. I just ask because alot of people have said the changes help lower rank players. At best i can leave a hero at low hp, but they usually get healed or escape. Now when in mid range or closer i can do ok, but at that point it would be better to be like reaper or something. Am i playing charclacter wrong or is she just bad at the moment?
Sojourn’s lethality is an issue at the moment.
Charged Railgun Shots aren’t going to earn much value unless you land a headshot or are capable of hitting multiple targets with it (which is now possible).
Landing headshots to quickly charge up the energy used for it, also increases the return value, though only slightly, and only if you can land the shot.
That’s just how the numbers work out. In the grand scheme of things, or in practical gameplay, Sojourn’s lagging lethality is a bit of problem, but as long as you can land shots and burst-fire or assist allies in taking down targets, you should be okay.
-
Don’t hold the trigger too long, after 10-15 shots, stop firing and either release your charged shot, or pause before firing your primary again.
-
Supplement your primary fire damage with Disruptor.
-
Try finishing off targets while Powersliding. Don’t just use it for escape or positioning.
She’s not bad, just no longer good. The rail lost its heavy damage but it’s easier to build, so its more of a get them low then finish them tool than build it on the tank and oneshot a separate squishy.
She’s a baddie for sure. But for her kit, it’s hard to imagine any scenario where Soldier wouldn’t have been a better pick.
If you find her too hard, just go soldier bc he’s pretty easy to abuse
Sojourn is hard because you have to be able to aim her primary fire which is a spammable projectile weapon instead of hitscan which makes playing her at long ranges hard. She lacks the raw DPS like S76 to apply pressure to tanks. 171 DPS > 130 DPS. More accurate headshots. Survival on healing station and helix rocket to burst them down.
You generally will find more value on other DPS because they are easier to play. All of SOjourn’s value has primarily been locked up in her headshot railgun shots.
Sojourn feels better to play with her primary fire spread reduction and faster charging of her railgun with headshots. I haven’t played her much, but I’m definitely seeing others getting value out of her, even in quickplay.
She was pretty tough to use last season.
In the hands of metal marvels like you and me, yeah, she probably is a… suboptimal pick. But if you enjoy her (and she is fun!) I’d still stick with her if I were you. I think further buffs are inevitable. And when she gets those buffs, you’ll be in a good position to capitalise on them.
Sojourns useless without rail lethality, they ruined the hero
