People can have psychosis and mania even hallucinations without being schizophrenic. I’ve personally hallucinated orchestral music before onset of my first psychotic break. What is your goal for his symptoms to represent?
Personally speaking I had my psychotic break talking to Cleverbot and thoughts of the turing test, and it was very trippy.
The representation of how involuntary hospitalization seemed a little extreme but then again I don’t know if this dude is a danger to himself during this pre-talon intervention. Let alone whether he’s warping space and such.
As well his face tweaks represent either a reaction to a high dose of anti-psychotics and facial twinging, and perhaps even his finger twitches represent some affect of being highly medicated maybe akathesia? .
With this representation of a pretty severally mentally ill person in the game I’m excited for people to see how traumatic and trippy a psychotic break can be, but I’m wondering if people are kind of missing the point.
It seems like he’s being delusional when he speaks about the universe speaking to him, and “what’s that melody” might represent a real auditory hallucination he hears…
Is he meant to represent a Schizophrenic diagnosis?
IMO. delusions and paranoia are a great “demon” of schizophrenia to represent, they’re really hard on people. I mostly face negative symptoms but the people I worry about the most seem to suffer from either delusions, or paranoia and paranoia related anxiety.
I love seeing a representation of mental illness in the game, and to be included though, so thank you!
We’ll see how sympathetic a character and villain he can be in the future.
I just hope he plays well!

From the origin story, I feel confident in guessing that he has either schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, dissociative identity disorder, or some combination of the three
And obviously he has it pretty bad

It could be a made up condition, like that of tracer’s whatchamacallit. I don’t see the link between black holes and schizophrenia tbh. But perhaps the trauma caused him to develop some mental illness

Some people have been suggesting that he has 3 different personalities because he’s seen in 3 different suits that each have unique character to them. So, maybe he has Dissociative Identity Disorder? I’m no psychologist, however.

i don’t think he has any disorder, he just had a bit of a meltdown and then everything fell into place.

…so he is a psycho/sociopath
…Yes I was hoping people would not say that. Psycho’s and sociopaths aren’t the same thing as schizophrenia or bipolar…

well he might know something that noone else does about the truth of the universe which just gives him a different perspective on things, sure it might look evil but it can be for a greater good
maybe…but he could still be psycho/sociopathic by not caring what happens to others
I also want to bring up the possibility he has epilepsy.

From what I saw he had some sort of omnic like augment to the back of his brain. This is where I think the “free me” and talon come in. They said he wasn’t aware of being used as a living weapon.
we don’t know yet, assuming he was into science ment he was into the betterment of the planet and everyone else around him, maybe he just got too big for his own britches and is mad with power since he has harnessed a black hole.
don’t have to be psycho or sociopathic to go mad with power.
have you ever heard the quote “absolute power corrupts absolutly” ?
…yes but I dont remember where
Considering his jumpsuit says ‘subject sigma’ on it, I think it’s a safe guess that whatever’s happening to him is being caused by someone–talon or overwatch or another organization altogether. Also, this thread should really be moved to Story Discussion.
it’s just a popular phrase from an old dead guy that’s stuck around, the whole sentence isn’t even there, it’s more like
“power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutly”
i think.
but still i think it’s pretty fair to say.

yeah…but it is true, holding all power leads to nothing but evil
it’s maybe more safe to say that he’s a megalomaniac.
or maybe it is true that’s he’s a bit nutty, but i think he only got a bit shocked at what happened and had to get a grip and then he just finally grasped it and then he started somehow getting control over it.
and somehow.

You try getting intercrossed between a black hole and tell me that you wouldn’t have a disorder from it.

I don’t think he has any real mental illness, I think he has the hypothetical mental illness that is brought on if you were subject to a force that gave you perceptions that are not normal for people to have.
I think he might be perceiving time out of order, but that could also just be flashbacks. I think he is probably able to directly perceive and manipulate gravity (we see shots of him apparently levitating small objects) , which his mind is interpreting as music, and perhaps he can do that with time also (at the end we see him summoning objects out of thin air).
Anyway, suddenly being subjected to new perceptions like that that you couldn’t shut out would surely result in some sort of traumatic mental illness, but not one that anybody has ever experienced before since it would be a unique kind of trauma.

Probably nervous break down or schizophrenic.
Lean more towards schizophrenic due to the artistic choices of the trailer. ( disorder means SPLIT MIND)
