It sure feels that way to me as someone who loves the hero. I feel like I am throwing most of the time if I try to play him just because of how bad he is in almost every situation.
It’s sad that Blizzard does not seem to care about such an important hero to the lore. Unless they rework him and maybe give him slugs he will never be good again. Do you guys agree hes in the worst situation for his role?
I feel like more people would argue Bastion is the least viable, though I’m not sure where Reaper fits in atm strength wise
Today on OWF: Bastion is in such a terrible place that people literally forget he exists.

He’s not in a comp be he can certainly be played outside of pro level play.
That being said… his teleport ability needs some love with how this game has evolved.
Yes. Yes he is. Anyone with a vague understanding of his role and WHY he literally cannot accomplish it would probably say the same. Everyone else will parrot Bastion.
McCree is an underrated hero on this forum for some reason.
I’ll put Symmetra and Junkrat instead of McCree.
People always say Bastion, and yes, he’s extremely unreliable outside of very specific scenarios, but with the right team and babysitting he can carry the team to a payload victory.
Reaper is only marginally better as he also is only useful in a very very specific situation but can at least deal with Winston. That’s about his only use though.
Soldier, McCree, and Torb fall under both in that they’re basically joke picks and never accomplish anything except by luck or a very very bad enemy team.
But at the end of the day when Hanzo, Genji, Doomfist, and Ashe are pickable, there’s literally no reason you’d ever need to pick Reaper, Bastion, McCree, Soldier, or Torb, as everything they do, which is little to begin with, can be done better by other heroes.

Indeed. Reaper is the worst.
I would argue that reapers role is to specifically deal with tanks. He crushes pretty much any tank in the game as long as he is flanking or being properly supported in the front. I would agree that 76, mccree, and torb need more fixes to fit in the current meta. Torb especially because without his armor packs he is essentially dead meat as an attack hero. 76 should have his healing circle buffed and be moved to a support role. Mccree should have two roll dodges before needing a cooldown. At least thats my thoughts on the matter.

McCree’s roll should function like Blink or Junk’s mines in that he’s got multiple uses on demand that individually recharge.
I also think Torb needs his armor packs re-added.
S76 definitely needs something, maybe a lower cooldown on his heal circle.
I’d say from a regular ladder perspective it is Bastion. Reaper is at least viable in low rank. Bastion is bad everywhere.
From a very high rank/pro perspective I’d say it is Reaper. Bastion has pirate ship, Reaper has nothing.
Reaper is not really even that good at killing tanks because of armor and how much healing is in the game. He gets taken out faster then he kills them. If they gave him armor piercing or slugs maybe he could do it but his hitbox is so big and lacks any mobility he just gets outdone. Other heros accomplish the same things from safer distances.
Hanzo and ashe have better range and roughly the same melee capability. Why would you ever pick mcree when you could far more damage across the map and have mobility to go with it?
Yea I guess I don’t like the idea that we have to balance by ranks though. I say we go the Git Gud route and make them balanced at top ranks.
Yeah Reaper’s a really low threat unless they’re good.
