Just a question. Is it ok to report people for making fun of others for what rank they are in?

People would find a way to make fun of you anyway. It’s just a small remark. I wouldn’t give a dang about it. However if continuously done, you can actually report it as harassment.

It is a pretty toxic type of behavior but I don’t know, it doesn’t seem like something that happens often enough I mean, don’t you usually play with people your own rank?
You could consider that abusive chat but I think it would depend heavily on what was said exactly.
But if you are feeling attacked then by all means report.
No… Be proud of your rank, be proud of who you main in Competitive.
Harassment is based on intention. Please report everyone who talks to you with the intention to hurt you.
IN game? Lol if you play with them that means that from skill level you both are equal. So rank shaming in game is pretty funny 
How does someone rank shame you in game if you’re almost always matched with people of your own skill level?
As for the forums, people rank shame because it is a go-to counter to an argument. It invalidates ethos (credibility), which is a big part to actually constructing an argument and trying to persuade people. I wouldn’t take it personally, because people will try all sorts of things to invalidate your argument. I’m pretty sure you can be suspended from the forums if you do this frequently.
Today I was playing off-season with my friend who is silver in comp. we thought it was cool that we could practice in a competitive setting together because I’m in diamond. But every game someone had to tell him he sucks because of his rank. People forget that this is a game and games are suppose to be fun.
Tbh with that big of a gap they really shouldn’t allow you two to group up. It makes the other 10 people in your match miserable.
That doesn’t excuse them harassing him though.
Not in QP, arcade or custom games though
How does reporting someone for being a jerk mean you’re not proud of your rank or your main?
We really need to dispense with this idea that holding people to a certain standard of behavior means that you’re “butthurt” or “defensive”.

yes, if anyone is purposely insulting someone, or throwing a game then report them.
If you are proud of your rank, meaning that you don’t care what people have to say about your rank, then you can easily laugh with them and not care what they have to say.
Ex: When I was new to this game, I got placed in GOLD. Season 2&3.
Now I am in Diamond (I let my SR Decay)
I still get people who “tease” me about my gold rank… I simply laugh with them, and make jokes about it. It confuse them because they were “rank shaming my past rank” but because I didn’t care about what they had to say/ I am still proud that I started off as a gold player, I simply turned their negative feedback, and made it into a humor feedback that honestly pissed them off.
I didn’t report or mute them at all, because it’s a waste of time on my part.
I am not saying accept his or her negative feedback, but simply embrace your current or even past season ranking. Once you do that, then you will be amazed at how little things doesn’t bother you when people “rank shame you.”
EDIT: This was a lot of typing, but I had to get this off my chest as spreading my positive to this thread feedback is always a welcoming gift.

If you’re matched together then you’re probably pretty near the same SR.
If someone of a higher rank is in a game with lower ranked players and making fun of them for being lower rank, well that comeback pretty much writes itself.
How i see things is when i speak about ranks they’re really not to “put down” people they’re to show examples and give people a lil bit of a idea on what is going on. But don’t feel bad about you’re ranking in the end people will continue to find things to get underneath your skin and will continue to try to put you down until its a GG. Again how i see it is if you are having fun with the comp/quickplay game why does it matter? continuing growing upon your rank and getting better at the game and enjoy who you main/play bc in the end those things will make you a better player if you simply have fun and at least learning

in QP you do get the same rank though? I always play with diamond + whenever I see a plat it’s cause they are in a group.
Arcade and custom games, I agree yeah there is a disparity but most masters+ and even some diamonds hate arcade because of that and the weird game modes so they just stay away from it. I personally only play it during events for loot boxes and every time I do it I want to kms.
Plus no one takes it seriously, so why would you yell at someone telling them they are trash and rank shame them in a game mode no one gives a rat’s a** about. If there are people like that, yeah i’d report them.
