I’m on console so i can’t give much feedback but the basic hitbox should be the same, they just gave it new visuals and cut it off at the end, they didn’t narrow it.
I agree with you there. The full two seconds feels clunky. Especially when 2 seconds is the length of a fully charged matrix.
It takes a full 8 seconds to recharge to get that 2 seconds of blocking back. So mostly you work with teensie skillshots to catch skill shots.
IF you haven’t blocked anything in the previous 2. I mostly have to helplessly watch a Hanzo ult forming from blocking something just prior.
I normally can catch those easy, with the awareness and having my thrusters at the ready I SHOULD be able to catch a hanzo arrow, but no. 4/5 times I was too busy spreading that 2 seconds thin on any number of harmful things to catch an ult like that.
Holding the matrix button hoping that 2 seconds will pass soon enough and watching things slip by wounds my experience honestly.
They added the 2 second timer because it was pretty broken when you were able to just spam use it instead of prioritizing and understanding how the fight will play out and how to maximize your potential.
Even with all the nerfs they’ve thrown at D.Va she’s still incredible strong and I would say that defense matrix is still one of the best abilities in the game even with the 2 second CD to it and the upcoming range nerf.
D.Va is still the best off tank in the game. If you aren’t below Masters you will be fine with D.Va. If you are below Masters, gl with feeding 600 HP worth of ult charge.
yes, dva is just as strong as she was without being that much ridiculous anymore and the matrix actually looks like the area it denies now, not just like half of it

The Defense Matrix nerf isn’t significant to D.va, it still defends her and the main tank from harm so you won’t even notice the nerf if you’re positioning with D.va correctly. It is however significant for Roadhog and Tracer, because D.va can’t Defense Matrix a Hook or clip at the same range as before. This means D.va has to use Defense Matrix and Boosters to peel, and doing so leaves D.va at the 10 meter mark for maximum spread and minimum fall off damage with no movement cooldown now.
In short, people have to position tighter around D.va and D.va has to get closer to peel, she can’t protect over extending teammates, teammates in the backline or teammates on highground without committing to Booosters… Bad Dva’s with poor target prioritization aand resource management will quit the character, good Dvas will adapt as they always do or bad teammates will get caught out more.
10 meters in like a mcree flashbang, I’m sorry but I disagree with anyone okay with this change. It’s dismal at best. As a tank you should be able to protect your teammates and losing more and more and more of that kit as months pass really kills my drive. She’s getting synomomous with a hamster clone at this point.
I’m not implying I’m bad I’m saying that the Dev team is obviously wrong on this.
I’m not here to compare our skill levels, if I wanted to do that I’d PLAY overwatch. I’m here to say that this is a mistake and that the nerf culture to spice up OWL is making the game unfun.
