Is OW2 Zarya balanced?

I still feel like it’s picking Zarya or lose when playing Tanks.

Fighting against OW2 Zarya is like fighting against 825 HP ‘buffed DPS’ character with DPS size hitbox due to her Double Bubble. One Bubble gives Zarya (or her teammate) extra 200HP or 2-second damage + CC immunity (cleansing debuffs too).
Zarya’s hitbox is quite forgiving for a Tank just as JQ as Zarya’s hitbox is slightly smaller than Pharah and maybe Cassidy too.

Your best chances against her is to outrange her, but that also means you could be playing away from the objective, sacrificing more spaces and let enemies walk in. Imagining you’re playing in Push Mode, you’re letting enemies gain more push distances if you try to kite Zarya.

We really haven’t had a truly OP character in a while where the solution is must go mirror I think. Rein/Winston are easy enough heroes to play and offer enough functionality to take a non-mirror against Zarya and win. Though depends upon all ranks.

Sojourn is actually more of a problem than Zarya right now because Sojourn makes up 50% of America top 500. For a roster that has like 17 heroes that’s insane.

idk you tell me

I feel like Zarya’s strengths are overrated. The same people who have issues with her also don’t know how to run her.

Oh, and I’ve been watching a few GM players, and I haven’t seen Zarya played as much as people on here say she is. Not saying they’re lying, but I don’t see what they see.

What’s this screenshot supposed to say? Character is played a lot, therefore they’re OP? Genji only appears once, so I guess he’s underpowered?

She’s definitely OP and due for nerfs

I think as OWL has shown Winston is just a really good counter to her. Completely ignore the Zarya tank because he gives little energy. Can out maneuver her. Can hit her DPS or higher rivaling her utility.

If Winston was shut down harder by some other hero like DPS or support (Brig got weaker) we might have seen less of him. In a way, with him doing well Zarya can be kept in check. Still powerful, but not impossible.

Genji appears a ton through top 500.

Which thankfully she is getting soon.

Too bad they chose to skip out on nerfing Sojourn. Gotta keep the forced Meta going so they can choose who they wanna buff later to “switch it up next season”

God awful balancing decisions. Nothing new here.

The only tank that is actually balanced right now is Rein and Ball.

Zarya is completely broken in both damage output and defense, she can easily kill 3 dps/supports on her own without even needing healing. Truly the tank fantasy.

The rest of the tanks all have way too much damage output, but that issue is flying under the radar because of Zarya. I think people are only just starting to wonder why tanks have higher damage output than most DPS heroes.

Doom needs drastically better defense, his damage output is fine.

Basically yes is pretty much balanced for Overwatch 2.

In fact Blizzard isn’t really nerfing her damage and survival potential in any meaningful way.

Even Sigma, Orisa and Rein have this potential.

Other tanks are a bit or alot more down compared to the new line of tanks but this seems the line for tanks in Overwatch 2.

Surely better for a more competitive gameplay, giving real carrying potential for tanks.

Some people complaining because they can’t accept we aren’t anymore in the casual no skill shield based gameplay of ow1.

Now Blizzard must have the courage of not try to hand holding old casual again and pursuit better the new more competitive direction.

Zarya will be more in line with other tanks on Nov 15, just 9 more days…
Winston has been getting strong play time since OW2’s reveal and when only OWL had hands on the game.
But the general rule to keep in mind to know if you have picked a good tank is if it doesn’t feed Sojourn railgun charge and if it has good mobility.

I remember even calling it that zarya is a sleeper pick and going to be OP once when OW2 launches.

She 100% is op right now. It’s to the point where I almost wish playing Zarya gave you a 50 percent sr gain reduction.

The main issue is no matter what you do against a Zarya you’re likely to get burned. Don’t shoot her bubbles, you give her uncontested space. Break her bubbles, she kills you in 2 seconds.

Right now Zarya, Sojourn, and Sombra need to see the Overwatch mechanic.

Seems unbalanced only in low ranks.

In fact Blizzard isn’t nerfing Zarya in any meaningful way.

Simple this is the new level of strenght of tanks.

More carrying potential for a more competitive gameplay.

We can only hope Blizzard adapt the support role to this new gameplay and stop hand holding casual players like they have done for ow1.

This isn’t true. And it’s kind of a lazy argument. Not sure what you play on, but on PS4 Zarya is pretty much all the way through the top500 leaderboard. And I doubt it’s different on other platforms.

The whole issue is that one tank is much stronger than others. Right now the only reasons to pkay other tanks are because either it’s a vertical map, or you play for fun. Otherwise Zarya is the only reasonable choice.

Right now Zarya is the new Hog. When yhe enemy goes Zarya, trying to play another tank into it is miserable. Not impossible, but miserable.

Console doesn’t really means anything.

Game is balanced around pc, because competitive is on pc.

And a competitive oriented game is balanced principally around high tiers.

For this reason Zarya isn’t really get a meaningful nerf, because isn’t so op in higher tiers.

The only reason I said console is because is don’t know what Top500 leaderboard looks like on pc.

What would you need to see in order to believe she is op on higher tiers? And is Sojourn op in your view?

She is imbalanced. Whenever I see the enemy team switch to her because they’re losing I know that if my tank doesn’t also switch we’re suddenly at a disadvantage. This isn’t to mention that players seem keen on attacking her bubbles to empower her.

Well I can atleast say for myself, the issue is in OW1 blasting through her bubbles was an actual good strat. However in OW2 it’s a terrible one. So I think alot of people are still in ghe OW1 mentality. I certainly was for awhile.

You should have filtered for tank, would have had more impact.
But yes, Zarya is very op and the nerf won’t do much to her. She needs changes that encourages her to not just bubble herself over and voer.
