Is OVERWATCH boring?

I think I am leaning towards my 6v6 dps only queue more than fixing the current game.
To be honest I don’t like holding or shooting shields/large hp targets. It’s boring and takes forever. I want what I shoot to die quickly like COD.

When they announced this new game mode 5v5 would be like COD I was hopeful then they just release super tanks with super hp pools. How is that like COD? Like WTF. 6v6 dps only is actually like COD. Why didn’t they do that if COD is what they were going for?

You can keep the current game mode but add a dps only queue. The other major problem is they need to release like 5 heroes asap because all the heroes feel old. Even League of Legends has release 3 heroes since I played in the last 6 months.

Yes, the content release is painfully slow. It acts all methodical, but is really just aimless. The team aspect is almost entirely ignored for no apparent reason and people just seem to forget how to enjoy themselves otherwise.

The devs can lock in, but they choose to “play it safe”. I blame direction.

If you play the game in a way which makes it ultra repetitive or treat it like work? Yeah…probably

But you can say that even about the most fun games

I personally have fun every time I sit down (or I wouldn’t be playing)

Team fights used to commonly last over a minute in 6v6. Now they last about 20 seconds in 5v5.

Almost every other MP shooter game is like this. I’m confused as to why you insist on having such a mode here when it already exists everywhere else.

Even if they did create a mode like this, it would be relegated to the Arcade and probably be about as popular as No Limits, which means 10+ minute queues for a horrible experience because of the MMR gap.

You could always make a custom game with only DPS heroes allowed. Maybe I’m wrong and it would become super popular.

If you wanted a COD game, why don’t you just play COD?..Overwatch has never been like COD in that sense, so I don’t understand why you went to that game looking for the Call of Duty experience considering there are plenty of other games to go to for that. Such as Battlefield, Rogue Company, Xdefiant, Valorant, Splitgate, just to name a FEW.

Just curious what rank are you at that you are getting 20 sec que times in 5v5 because mine are 20 minutes… Like WTF.

Ok if you did want to fix the current game here is what I would do:
-Bots at low levels
-Majority of player base at diamond
-More players above diamond then below diamond.
-Shorten the games to match Marvel Rivals 8-12 min Bronze-GM (faster games more players in que)

You want to reward players for playing the game. Right now your reward for climbing ranks is a 20 minute queue during the week. How is that fun? My GM+ Marvel Rivals account is 3-30 sec que times.

I was talking about team-fights, not queue times.

My bad…

Team fights are interesting in 5v5. After playing the 6v6 2x2x2 demo and going back to the 5v5 it doesn’t feel like actual team fights. It feels empty or more correctly lacking for some reason.

Boring? No. Stagnant? Absolutely.

Matchmaking is painfully bad.

Yeah, team fights have largely disappeared in 5v5. There is quite a bit more staggering and feeding though, in my experience; More like deathmatch-style gameplay.

You got a source for that?

And even if that said anything remotely close to “OW2 will play like CoD”, anyone with even half an iota of common sense would understand that couldn’t be remotely true even with a dps only queue.

Sounds like you need to stop shooting the tank? That’s how party games work. Shoot the squishy team, they die right away then shoot the tank. At least in 5v5 when you win a fight you get something out of it rather than just waiting for the other team to keep trickling back over and over again until you can wipe then all out with 6 ultimates. It’s just so less decided by how good you are in 6v6 and the games are too homogenous imo

It’s also much less decided by who has the troll/smurf on their team.

Yeah but when you are good and better than everyone don’t you like being rewarded for it!
I mean both have their merits I won’t tell you not to like 6v6 just don’t tell me not to like 5v5 lol

lets be fair tho, MR’s matchmaker is trash and you have to play like 5 matches just to not to stomp or be stomped

That´s exactly the problem that contaminated OW2

and how we got to this 5v5 nonsense

Not really. I don’t need validation like that to enjoy things and be good at them. What I don’t enjoy is being beholden to a troll or smurf that requires so much validation that they ruin the experience for everyone else.

yes, very boring, it lost it spark long ago, i can tolerate bad gameplay with 5vs5 but the lack of content, no events, no lore, no story, nothing to be looking for, no feel of progression, lack of direction and i dont buy any skin, yeah, overwatch is very boring

This is what I don’t want. The shooter genre has been defined by the same cookie cutter recipe for ages. I’m sick and tired of finding like the Deagle, P90, AK-47, MP5, etc. type weapons in literally every single game under the sun.

The hero shooter identity of introducing far more elements beyond simply shoot gun into the game. Most games completely make shields completely useless. The idea of a riot shield in say a CoD kind of game is a meme rather than actually being meaningful.

In OW, these things actually are meaningful. Healing is a core mechanic. The ability to buff or debuff enemies. Its so much more fun than simply shoot enough bullets enemies die.
