I’m a casual player, i main mostly Genji and D.va. I’m a low plat but mostly never play competitive, only placements. I have a small mouse pad (planing on changing that). But still reading about other players sensitivity i’m thinking that I have mine a bit too high.
My mouse dpi is 3200 and in game sensitivity around 32 and i’m not playing that bad. I spent over 210hrs in game training my muscle memory to this quick of a sensitivity. Should I be trying to slowly lower it over time?
3200 * 32 = 102,400 eDPI.
That is really high.
I’ve got 12,000 eDPI and that is considered high.
I’ve always used high sensitivity for everything. It seems natural to me. When I try to lower my dpi from 3200 to 1600 in the training range I just feel ultra slow and can’t hit anything.
If it feels natural then go for it.
I would recommend you slowly start lowering it though.
That is absolutely insane. I use 1300 dpi and 3 sensitivity.
Yeah… I read a lot about other peoples sensitivity. I do feel like I will stop improving at a certain point because of it.
my dpi is 800 and my sens is 3.5
your edpi is about 37 times higher than mine
idek how you hit shots with that
1600 dpi or 800 dpi is what most pros and streamers for most games seem to use.
Edpi between 2.5k and 10k is more normal with around 3.5k being pretty average. Unless you have a really small mouse pad or some kind of physical issue there is no reason to go much over 10k.
Also most players I know of playing over 4k up into the 10k range are Tank, Tracer or Genji mains… Doomfirst probably too… Characters where super fast 180s is more important than perfect aim.
That’s a lot more than “a bit too high”. Take your current edpi and divide it by 10 AT LEAST. Set it to that and you’re gonna climb.
Genji is supposed to have high sensitivity, but not that high. Lower it to where you can still comfortably land shots on Genji
I believe mine right now is somewhere near 20,000 eDPI since I play Torb/Doomfist
Even for heroes who don’t require low eDPI, your sensitivity is absolutely, mind boggling high. It is a miracle you can even tell what is going on at that sens. I would not slowly lower it. Pick a tracking oriented hero like soldier, zarya or moira and lower it to at least below 10k eDPI (sens x DPI). I recommend around 4000-7000 maximum eDPI.
Yes it’s too high x), when I was in your situation (small mouse pad) I was playing with 800 dpi and 16 ig sens (12 800 edpi).
32 sens ig means u have a lot of pixel skipping (a little is okay, but a lot is very bad). And think of your health, you will most likely develop carpal tunel.
Right now, I’m at 1200 dpi and 4 ig with a medium mouse pad (I don’t have the physical place for a large one unfortunately).
Yeah that’s too high, I recommend getting a bigger mouse pad and lowering it by a lot. I use 1200 dpi and 8 sens which i find comfortable.
I used to play at 35 sens and 800dpi and then slowly started dropping it for 20 then 15 then 6 and now i play with 7.
No, it is not a bit too high.
It is extra ordinary totall mayham hell freezing too high!!!
With 3200 DPI good dps players use usually something between 1.0 and 1.4. Many average casual palyers stay at something like 2 and 5.
But 32 is insane!
Edit: if your mouse has a 3360 sensor or older you should set 800 DPI. On newer sensors it is usually to use higher DPI with lower ingame settings.
But somehow the 3360, even though it can use higher DPIs, seems to lose precision.
Since i switched to a Zowie Divina Ec1-b i had to use 800 DPI. On my previous Logitech with a better newer sensor i could use 4000 DPI with the same precision, even better.
But 800 on Zowie work good enough and the EC1-B shabe is just too good.
Hollllllllllllllly christ on a stick that’s egregiously high. I play at 700dpi/6.5, and most people are around those numbers but you…
Holy hell, man.
dude my sense used to be like 20. it did not work well at all
at that sens you are basically not even moving your hand but controlling the mouse with your nerve impulses.

It’s too high. The reason it feels natural is because is the only thing you know not because is the best. When you change to a lower one it feels strange, VERY strange, but if you can manage to get past that and stick with it, you get used to it and improve your mechanical skill drastically. I was like you, I had a very high sens playing McCree, but even though I still consider myself a casual I wanted to improve and so I lowered the sens. Some months later I was way better than before and I managed to get from gold to diamond eventually.
There are cases where a player uses high sens and does good but it’s very rare, the only ones I can think of right now are Pine and Geguri, other than that most players use relatively low sensibilities.
I want to add that lowering your sens will force you to use your arm, which will help with precision when it comes to aiming because you can use your wrist for small adjustments instead of moving altogether. I would say that you can play with high sens and do reasonably well, but it will prevent you from getting any better, specially with a sens as high as yours, there is no way you can be precise with that, unless you are extremely talented or have inhuman capabilities lol.

I gues after “tracking and shooting”, “Flick shots”, he now invented the “TREMOR SHOT”!.
