i5 6600, gtx 1070, 16gb ram. I know my setup is old and I am starting to run into frame rate issues.
My game ran fine with a 1060 and 16gb of ram and that was with like 100 internet tabs open. Main difference is I have an i7 so maybe that’s the problem? Or something weird is going on in your computer and you might need to run something like a CCleaner to get rid of junk files.
Yes it’s too old to play stadium.
Overwatch is pretty easy on most graphic cards. And there are always ways to offset the load through various means, like AMD FSR which I believe doesn’t introduce input lag (or the gain in FPS makes up for it).
It’s usually CPU bottleneck that prevents people from maintaining high frame rates.
I myself have RX 5700XT + AMD Ryzen 5 3600 processor. I run the game at 240FPS and it barely puts any load on my GPU (~30 - 50% max). I think my FPS doesn’t drop below 160 - 180 most of the time either.
So first thing I’d do is upgrade your processor. But if you wanna be cheap, there technically are ways to make your computer run more efficiently so that Overwatch application runs faster. You’ll need to look up various tweaks yourself.
Be warned, it’ll require quite a lot of time and research. It’s probably better to just invest in upgrading your computer if you can’t be bothered getting all technical to squeeze as much performance as possible from your older hardware.
P.S. - I looked at the comparison chart, and it seems like both your GPU and CPU perform worse compared to my hardware. So first thing I’d upgrade would be the CPU: https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-6600-vs-AMD-Ryzen-5-3600/3514vs4040
Regarding RAM, 16GB should be more than enough so you should be fine there.
Your video card is a bit old. Id say upgrade to a 2021 or 2022 model or younger.
You’re probably fine. I used to play this game on a GTX550. Of course that was 7 years ago…
