Is mouse and keyboard allowed on consoles?

I’m a PS4 player and i’ve faced a player that had some crazy snaps and wiggles on his aim, which i know weren’t normal for controller players, even on max sense. I asked on DM and he admitted it. Later i checked the replay and it just made it crystal clearer i was right. So… is it allowed? Can u report players for that? Cause i made every single possible report. Other thing is, i had an impression he had walls too

No it’s not allowed, that’s why there is no native support for a m&k in ow.
This doesn’t stop people from using xims or other 3rd party devices to get around this.

It provides an unfair advantage thus is cheating as per Blizzard’s definition of same.

No, report for cheating and put ‘mouse and keyboard’ in the text.

Consoles should offer m+kb support for OW, imo. Not like you cant use a controller on PC to help you smurf. The only ones getting cheated are console companies. They could making a lot of money from extra hardware sales like the XIM.

As the above said it’s considered cheating. Report it.

Absolutely should not. A controller player going to PC with no aim assist opposed to a keyboard and mouse player on console it’s completely different.

If you beat PC players with a controller you are playing with a handicap. If you use a mouse and keyboard on console you are giving yourself an advantage.

I get what you are saying, and I dont disagree, but the reality is that some players have access to kb+m on consoles. That will never change and is likely to get worse. Might as well allow everyone the same freedom of which input device to use. If you choose to use a controller over m+kb, your rank will reflect that, like on PC. And you can be put into matches with other controller users. Seems fair to me.

Then they would have to add aim assist to PC and Mouse and keyboard users would complain constantly every time they get wrecked by a controller player.

Happens in apex. Happens in fortnite. Happens in call of duty.

And it will change on PS4 at least. Sony is cracking down on it as well as the games themselves.

Xbox is doing the opposite but their consoles are dying anyway.

If they are in a low (or high) rank because of their choice of input, they will be matched with and against others with a similar handicap or advantage.

Whats next, are you going to insist everyone use the same internet provider, modem, and video card or console series? Make everyone move to the same part of the world and learn every language just to make it fair?

Under Activision’s Governing Policies for Mouse & Keyboard Support for any Multiplayer portion of a Game or Game that requires Online Connectivity, Using Mouse & Keyboard is against the ToS of their Online Titles as it adds too extreme of advantages for those users.

It is not up to the console manufacturers to allow Mouse & Keyboard into games, they simply designed the console to be compatible. Its up to the Developer and Publisher to allow and enable it. IF the developer does not, then you risk account bans for their titles.

Choice of input doesn’t go hand in hand with rank. There are controller players who are better than keyboard players and the opposite. A controller player named warn went to PC without aim assist and was wrecking diamond players with ease.

Controller goes with console keyboard goes with PC. Allow cross play at the point if you are not going to separate the inputs which is the whole point of console and pc.

Allowing crossplay with Console and PC players has RECENTLY been proven bad. Look at the new Call of Duty Modern Warfare. Dozens of articles in the last 2 weeks have been going around of console players disabling crossplay because its a disadvantage to play with PC players and the amount of cheaters that are on PC as well.

So no Crossplay will not work either.

It was a joke and it’s just because of the cheaters. In modern warfare PC players are actually worse than console players because aim assist is super strong.

yeah, thats why i stopped playing. the aim-assist takes away from actually being able to play good.

MKB on Console gives you an unfair advantage.

Controller on PC does not give you an advantage, and may even be a disadvantage.

Also not true. It’s a trade off. Aim assist for console the ability to make recoil non existent the way no controller player possibly could. Each set had their advantages.

LOL thats not how an aim-assist works! LMAO… Aim-assist on Console is a guidance System. All it does is gives you sticky target assistance. They recoil patterns are the same. The only time its different is if the Developer specifically codes in separately a reduced recoil pattern for Gamepad Controller Player Bases - Console Players. Its a Separate development mechanic done by reducing the cone of fire, which removes the randomized projectiles that normally would land more towards the outer edge of the cone and cancel them out. This is how they maintain better lower end Tic Rates on Consoles because its less Frames used to render and process multiple trajectories.

You didn’t understand what I said. Aim assist is as you said a focus on the target upon the initial aim it does not track is just an initial lock upon aiming.

PC players can have zero recoil on all guns and use them at ridiculous distances no console player possibly could. Like I said it’s a trade off. Each input has their advantages.

Jeff talked about it a while ago on here, and I found links to the thread but for some reason when I click them it just takes me to the forum home page. I could only find what he said through other people quoting him. This is what Jeff said:

Currently, we cannot do anything about players using input conversion devices to use Mouse and Keyboard on console.

However, we have put serious research and development against this problem and we’re hoping to have a solution to what we consider to be unfair circumstances. This is a priority for us and we’re trying to combat this through technology and policy.

We’ll keep you informed on our progress and any policy changes as soon as they develop.

For now, please avoid reporting this behavior.
