Mei is my favorite character to play. Partly because she’s so versatile and I admit, partly because of trigger potential. I don’t think she’s op though, even in low ranks where I play. She can be annoying if you/your team aren’t dealing with her but she’s not hard to kill/counter.
Boops keep her away from you and your team
Blizzard is the easiest ult to eat as a dva and if your playing dva you turn around as she’s freezing you to hide that massive crit box then booster out of there. Wall can be baited, so can ice block. And pharah is super effective, especially in low ranks.
Mei is not op…
That said, she is so getting nerfed and soon. I believe her to be balanced but she’s a hybrid and all the hybrids seem to attract more complaints than other heroes. I would honestly prefer her to be recategorized as a tank and rebalanced than see her nerfed to the ground and reworked into an unplayable hero.
I think she’s good and kinda cheesy. But she always was cheesy. No reason to change her gameplay. She’s just doing fine nowadays when she used to rarely make an impact.
She went from punish someone who went too far to being more in the fight, which is what her buffs meant to do.
Not when Mei can snipe snipers with no damage falloff (one of the buffs she received for no reason)
Sombra does nothing to enable reaper, because her kit isn’t designed for it, let alone is it helpful to reaper at all. The best she can do is drop a shield so reaper can go ham.
No everyone has a problem because of her versatility then everyone cries and gets Sombra nerfed which requires way more coordination for her to even be noticed in a game.
Mei can be noticed without coordination, or even a lot of skill, just common sense.
You asked for an explanation, you got one, this is not the only spot she’s useful in. Her kit allows for such versatility she can solo carry 5 man DPS teams and take up the tank role herself. There isn’t a situation you can put her against where she is unable to function short of priority targeting.
Which happens to be her greatest weakness.
She can also function in an offensive role, the issue with OWL is, like Torb… everyone uses her defensively instead of offensively aggressive.
Torb is a beast offensively, just no one in the pro scene tries to utilize him that way when an opportunity arises.
They are to stuck on cookie cutter tactics.
That’s exactly why Sombra got nerfed. Someone stepped outside the box, pulled in an F Tier character, and made it work against GOATS. If you call less than 42% win chance in a fight, working.
For some reason she was the ONLY one with a projectile (and a difficult one to land) that had falloff.
Developer Comments:The goal of these changes is to slightly reduce the impact of damage falloff on mid-range weapons. While assessing falloff mechanics across the board, weapons intended primarily for close-range combat benefited too greatly from lowering their falloff restrictions. We also normalized a couple of outliers in that Mei had a long-range travel time projectile with falloff applied and Widowmaker’s automatic fire did not have any.
while not infallible they had reasons to do so.
Or turn off someone reaper is waiting for a baitout from, which is huge for reaper. He has 8 shots and the more you can make every one count is enabling him.
I’m sensing you’re a bit … biased because of what happened to sombra.
My problem was they said “most”. I got 2.
Except burst damage and fighting more than one angle at a time. You’re starting to sound like you’re seeing “forum Mei”. Maybe in low ELO’s she can cover for a lack of tank entirely, but against people with high mechanical skill she cannot “make space”.
I am assuming then you believe you know better than the people actually being paid to play this game?
