Is mei that bad?

i honestly think shes bad, before and if shes op thats because the player is good, i dont see how shes op, but i digress, im just a pleb mei main :sob:

You have to realize that there are a lot of dumb people who think that they’re playing the same game as pro players, and that because Mei is being used a lot in OWL now, they think that means she’s automatically overpowered on ladder.

The reality is that pro players practice day in and out together, and are playing on a level of coordination and communication that the vast majority of us do not and will not ever experience. It’s basically a different game entirely that OWL players are playing, and to balance the game for everyone else based around that less than a fraction of a percentage who aren’t even playing the same game is a mistake.

i did see profit use mei which surprised me, honestly do u think mei is good cause i think shes in a bad spot

I wouldn’t play a hero I didn’t think was good. I don’t think she’s overpowered at all, though. I think she’s balanced, and can be good in the right situations and in the right hands.

The other reason a lot of people hate on Mei is because she excels at punishing the mistakes of bad players. Out of position? Mei is there to make you pay for it. People don’t like having to admit that they messed up, and will instead blame the hero that they saw punish them for messing up. Mei does so in a very obvious way, so it’s no wonder that she gets a lot of hate.

i dont see an exact reason why, with some characters i could say “oh well i can see where your coming from” but with mei i dont see it.

I think you’re going to see the wall get tweaked and potentially her time to freeze. Possibly a health level on ice block instead of 100% immunity.

She may not be overpowered, but if she keeps getting played like this in OWL you can expect them to do something.

If I am being honest, I think the calls for Mei nerfs are a bit much. That being said, I think the main problem people have with Mei is how oppressive her kit can be, and how forgiving it can be for her mistakes.

I remember when Sombra mains said that too, and she still got nerfed.

The development team doesn’t make balance decisions based off “mains” whining.

They did it off youtubers and the pros whining, which is worse.

They SHOULD do it off in game stats.

just saying, mei is one of the 10 most unpicked characters

Mei is incredibly good. She has powerful kit, self sustain, CC primary, decent damage output secondary.

Every group that plays this game whines constantly. Eventually one group is going to whine about something that will be changed.

This doesn’t mean they’re following the will of the youtubers and the pros. When the community whines about everything eventually someone is going to be right.

Um…

Given she has the lowest damage per game of any DPS… Or Tank, Hell, she is lower than some of the supports, I’m not sure you should put that in the list.

She is strong at everything EXCEPT damage. Her damage output is super weak to make up for the rest of her kit.

Sure as hell it wasn’t from the in game stats.

So the change that has been suggested a lot is reducing the number of pillars in her wall, but widening the pillars to compensate. This is effectively a 50% reduction in the wall’s effectiveness, as you would only have to take out 400 health instead of 800 to get a tank through the wall.

I’m actually on board for this nerf, though, if she gets the proper compensation buff. A free reload in ice block and maybe an increased fire rate for her icicles should do the trick nicely.

This I don’t agree with. Her freezing people really isn’t an issue, and her freeze ray is actually the weakest and most risky parts of her kit when it comes to higher levels of play. You don’t see good Mei players using the freeze ray much, even in close quarters.

Only if Reaper receives the same sort of nerf to his wraith form. Wraith form and ice block are essentially the same ability, except that one trades mobility for self healing.

“powerful kit”
wall is good but cryo is BAD, it makes you a SITTING DUCK enemies can set up on you, junkrat can literally laugh at you while you sit there contemplating your next move. “cc primary” while i could see this being op, it takes about 1.5 seconds to freeze and im pretty sure only low mobility enemies cant escape this or the enemy is a potato, “decent damage output” it does 75 body shot and 150 hs, and it has a charge time, you could EASILY avoid it
ok thats my opinion dont kill me

While I think Mei is less oppressive than widowmaker and sombra, I do think her kit is far too forgiving after she got multiple buffs to fight goats.

The concept of tracking a target and getting a freeze as a reward for good tracking is great, however the slow effect kinda ruins any amount of skill that mechanic would take. If they nerfed the slow effect of the freeze and gave the freeze diminishing returns so she can’t just chain freeze for free I think she’d be fine.

No I don’t think she needs a buff for this, she’s gotten plenty of powercreep leading up to this already, no falloff on icicles, higher freeze damage, freeze penetrates targets, and less ammo consumption on icicle spam.

Mei is currently at the most balanced that she’s ever going to be. The removal of falloff damage on a projectile that has a cast time and allowing her to freeze multiple enemies gives her just enough damage to keep up with most of the rest of the DPS in many situations (as compared to only SOME situations) and gives enough utility to make up for lack of sheer time to kill potential. Reducing the HP of her ice wall from 500 to 400 per pillar really hasn’t affected the wall’s primary function of blocking people off, so it’s a fair trade.

Except she got NO buffs to fight goats.

The piecing freeze was because of an abuse people were using.
