I have … too many hours into this game, and a good chunk of those were enjoyable. Blizzard has made a truly remarkable game. That being said, I’m 30 years old. Is it worth continuing to play? Like any adult, my time for video games seems to get less and less every day. This FPS is built around the idea of teamwork. After countless hours of positive attitude, asking, begging and pleading, I can’t get a team to work if there’s even one person, that doesn’t want to help. Whether its a troll, a tilted player, or a main that just refuses to switch off, you can’t force someone to listen. To watch the timer trickle down knowing that you already lost, is a pain I haven’t felt from a video game since street fighter 2 turbo. I can report them, but that really doesn’t fix THIS match, and I never even really know if it did anything at all. At my age, it just feels bad to put 20 minutes into a dead end.
I’m curious, though. Is this just me getting bitter, or do other people feel this way? There’s something so much worse about losing, when it was preventable.
Tell me, why’s it worth my time?
No. Time to go if you have to ask that question.
if you ask yourself why is it worth your time, its most likely not worth your time as the person above also said
Yeah, I never found TF2, DOD, CS, BF, or any other FPS so frustrating to lose at. It must be the team element that makes it harder to swallow. You’re right, though. I think it is time to move on.
Still fun to watch the pros every once in awhile, though. haha
If you are having fun still it shouldn’t be an issue. I’m 35 and I enjoy the game because it’s so casual friendly, I can hop in and play one game, or I can play for hours. If however you’re the highly competitive sort and that’s what you enjoy doing, maybe not so much. This game does require a lot of time to “git gud.”
It’s not about skill. I’m usually the one calling out the enemy team member that just dumped on me for kudos. It’s the team fail from trickling or bad game sense. It’s knowing better, but not being able to do a thing about it.
this guys seems familiar…
exits stage left before things get bad here
A game should be fun, when ever you start asking “why am I doing this” it’s a clear sign that you need a breather away from the game. Playing any game for too long is probably a bad idea anyway.
Beside, there are plenty of other games out there to sink your teeth into, if you still want to game a bit. When I’m bored of a game, I usually go to the indie section and see what new gems that can be found there. I have a soft-spot for story-driven games, so the indie section has been quite rewarding for me at least. Not the most technical advance games but very good in my book.
Time to pull the SNES out of the crawl space, and pick up on that save file for Donkey Kong.
I think you still have passion in it and you see it failing and you don’t want that to happen so I say you really search on what you want and if you do happen to leave then don’t give up on overwatch completely
I wasn’t considering that … until now. God dammit
Quint essential Donkey kong for me.
Exactly my thoughts. I’m 32 and I love how I can pick up it up whenever without having to dedicate countless hours to it. I still enjoy the few hours a week I get out of it, but there’s no way I’d be able to dedicate enough time to be very competitive. It just gives me the freedom to play as I like.
If you aren’t enjoying the game, or you’re asking yourself if it’s worth your time, it probably isn’t for you anymore.
Yeah, I was trying not to come off as a complainer. Obviously it has some amazing qualities to have the player base that it does. Also, for me to sink SO many hours into it. I just wanted to see if it this is on me, or if this is a concern shared by the player base.
I would just pick up the game whenever you feel like it. I wouldn’t try to force yourself to play a lot to the point of burnt out/exhaustion.
I don’t see you as a complainer, you’re just voicing a concern you have, and that’s just fine. At the end of the day, you are only going to be able to decide if you enjoy playing or not. If you do, then just sit back and enjoy it! If you feel yourself burning out, maybe take a break and come back to it? It’ll always be here!
Yeah, I need a remake of Battlefield Vietnam haha
