I’ve been thinking about whether it’s worth switching from PS4 to PC over the past couple of weeks because I plan to build my first gaming PC over the weekend. Most of the parts have arrived already, but I keep on wondering whether it is worth losing all of my cosmetics and progression etc to have a better gaming experience overall. Most of my friends play OW on the PS4 too, but apparently OW2 is going to be cross platform so I’m sure I can figure something out until that happens.
Overwatch is my favourite game and although I plan to play other games on the PC, it’s really off putting to me that I’ll loose all of my golden guns and skins etc. So, for those of you who have made the switch or currently play on PC, is the sacrifice worth it?
Personally I wouldn’t, unless you wanna play with friends.
I used to play on console 100 levels or so, but moved to pc

That’s speculation and hope. I don’t think anything official has been said yet
Now about “worth” is about you. Overwatch is probably on discount because of anniversary, so you could pick it up for a cheaper price, but it really is up to you
It’s likely that they introduce cross platform, so you could buy ow for PC, make it your secondary platform, and when they introduce crossplay, it becomes your main one
It really is up to you, I kinda understand the cosmetic stuff but you probably won’t mind it after a while, in fact, it’s possible that you either love PC and stay there, or you prefer playing with friends and stay on PS4
Not any downside, but If you wanna buy it I suggest when it’s on discount… Because… Free save right?

I made the switch from Xbox to PC, but that was primarily because most of my friends were playing on PC. It sounds like you actually have a similar motivation to stay on PS4.
I consider console shooters to be fundamentally better than PC shooters in terms of how elements like strategy and stealth affect gameplay (side effects of the fact that it takes time to turn/aim on a controller). However, I also have very little desire to revisit console Overwatch now that I’m accustomed to the increased control/precision of playing with mouse and keyboard.
There’s been no indication from the developers that the game will ever have cross-platform matchmaking. If anything, they’ve implied the opposite, since they generally lean away from decisions that give certain players hardware-related advantages. Based on what you said in your post, I would recommend just continuing to play on PS4.

people are saying crossplay… that’s impossible unless its ps4 x xbox. otherwise pc players would just decimate their same rank console counterparts. now to the question, I’ve played ps4 very little but from what I’ve played the controls are terrible. playing with a keyboard & mouse really enhances the overwatch experience imo. in ps4 it’s really hard to aim (atleast for me) and I struggled with heroes like mercy, pharah and echo since you have to hold down jump to fly and also strafe and shoot at the same time using a controller
basically i say try pc especially when overwatch is on sale

I wouldn’t. I hear PC lobbies are way more toxic.

Play on PC when you want to play by yourself. Play on PS4 when you want to play with friends.

Thanks for all of the helpful replies
I mentioned cross-platform because I was curious as to whether it would ever be a feature in Overwatch. A website said that it had been confirmed to be coming with Overwatch 2, but it seems like that wasn’t actually true.
We know very little about OW2 at this point, I wouldn’t trust any claims about the game if it’s not from Blizzard themselves.
