Is it worth me going to OW on PC? (Console Player)

Hey guys. I’m a console player for OW, and I’ve been considering going to PC so I could play on my computer more often. Despite me having it on console, and really no friends to play with regardless, is it even worth it? I’ve heard the horror stories of how the toxicity is worse in the PC atmosphere, and I’m really not looking to get into some kind of nonsense. Please don’t hate on me for being on console, I got a new computer recently that can actually run the game.

Thanks, guys!

PC is objectively the superior platform to game on. Go for it.

I would wait for a Sale, but OW is totally worth getting on PC.

Having people to play with definitely is a plus… otherwise… well… lets just say you’d meet toxic people regardless of where you go…

Just remember there are tools to avoid/mute/block such characters when you encounter them.

no, this game is in a horrible state. Go buy yourself a actually balanced game, like csgo.

im planning on switching to PC from console soon. Too many alt accounts (free to make), throwers, smurfs (free to make), and 12 year old idiots on console anymore.

Not to mention, many heroes are designed to be superior with mouse and keyboard.

if your actually a competitive gamer, I think switching to PC is the right move as that’s where all of the real competitive gamers and games are played. if your playing just for fun, then what’s the point, you can just jack around and throw games with the 12 year old console players.

I guess my thing is that I want to try out a keyboard+mouse layout this time instead of a controller. I just don’t want to drop $20 if I end up not liking it.

PC all the way for FPSs.

It’s infinitely better on PC. Trust me. It’s harder, better, more engaging, and you get more feedback on your mechanical growth. You’ll love it.

if you can get a 144hz monitor i cant tell you not to. theres alot of other considerations though if youre gonna play at 60hz.

I’m on a laptop, so… xD

Is it a good laptop? Or mediocre? Because laptops DO come with 144hz screens

I’m running on the HP Spectre x360 15-ch0xx. Not sure how well that goes gaming-wise. Bought it with intent to try PC gaming out a bit and to do some digital art. It was a massive step up from my previous, at least.

I made the switch.

It was actually kind of fun to re-learn the game mechanically but it did take some time to get as good with all the characters as I was in console, I still been struggling a bit because my mechanics just aren’t that good compared to people who have been pc gaming for years.

If you like the game enough it’s worth it. Waiting for a sale might be smart. I actually bought my account before my pc was ready so that I could get the game for 20$.

I do miss using a controller though; it’s not as good but it IS more comfortable.

Just looked that up, is it the 4k screen version or the 1080/1440p?

You might find less to keep you engaged with the game if you don’t have any friends on PC, but I’ve also met plenty of nice people on PC and so you probably will too if you’re open to make friends.

As far as toxicity is concerned it’s really not bad. It has gotten better over time, it’s more just people being rude than flat out toxic like it used to be. There’s plenty of tools you can use to keep those people silent as well.

If you enjoy the game though you’ll still love it on PC. It’s $20 now and I’m assuming it’ll go on sale during its Anniversary.

It’s the 4k, but it has an option for me to readjust the resolution within Windows 10 to run it 1080. By default I have it on 4k.

In the game you’ll be able to select 1080 without having to adjust your Window’s settings.
I also recommend keeping your resolution scale in the game at 100% anything above that will eat up a lot of processing power.

Ah, gotcha. I’m new to the 4k thing, as I spent a good few years really outdated since I was on an old laptop. I haven’t been able to go desktop because I’m still in college and portability is an issue. xD

Hmm, well I’m unsure if you have a 144hz option since you got a 4k display, and the models specs dont have anything on it where i looked, are you able to check that?
In Nvidia control panel you should be able to check, click on “Change Resolution” set it to 1080p and there is a refresh rate box, see if you can hit 144hz.

144hz is a world of difference in gaming, but it’s not a MUST. You can still get by on 60hz just fine

Given that it’s 4k it probably won’t be 144hz, there’s only a few displays out there that are 4k and 144hz and they’re not in laptops I don’t think.
