Is it toxic to say 'goodbye' after getting a kill?

I personally wouldn’t take offence to this, but wondering what you guys think. Yeah, I do this sometimes :smirk:

I’d say some people might find it annoying but toxic? Nah

There’s people on this forum that think saying GG is toxic. So yeah, I’m sure somebody eventually will take offense, but it’s such a minority you’ll almost assuredly never be actioned.

Pressing a button that is literally in the game is not toxic. It’s a design feature.

Is it toxic if I say goodbye as someone is falling to their death from a boop?
Is it toxic if I say goodbye to a teammate I didn’t/couldn’t heal when they die due to being out of position, reckless, or out of line of sight?

I mean, it kinda is? It depends on the context. If its used after you steamroll the enemy, then its toxic.

I personally only use it after losing a close game

nah, its just funny :smirk:

I would judge that not to be toxic. Same goes for anything like “sit down” or any other remark that simply intended to give a little bit of salt.

IDK, but for a few days, I would say “thank you” after every kill.

I found out that many people will completely ignore the point and the rest of your team to try to kill you.

Seen this as well, but I’m fine with fun little 1v1s. as long as they don’t cheese on roadhog. :unamused:

Is intending to farm salt not inherently toxic? I am not saying it is bad, per se. But you know, intentionally bothering people is generally frowned upon.

Enemy: tries to boop me
Me: booping him back
Me: Goodbye.
Enemy: Left The Game.

What’s bothering to you is fun to others.
For example, I love shouting voice line combinations with anyone, but some people think it’s bothersome. Does that mean I’m being toxic?

You booped them out of the game D:

xD It’s funny watching them completely change directions to chase after me.
Yes, the point is empty. But that person said ‘thank you’ when i die, so they deserve death.

You have to season your kill, after all.

I dunno, a little annoying. I’ve never done it but I don’t think it enters the realm of toxic. Now I might find it a lot annoying if somebody kept doing it over and over again, particularly like when they didn’t earn it. Like I just get done killing two of their team mates and they walk up when I have 5 hp left and kill me and gloat like they accomplished something. But you don’t have a lot of time to stew over that sort of thing in a match. That comes… LATER.

It depends on your definition of toxic. Personally, I use the “would you do it irl” rule to determine if something is toxic. Perhaps not the best measurement because I am sort of a Giga Chad and would totally do a lot of things irl.

That being said, even I have my limits which become no-nos in the world of online gaming. Needless to say, GG and using voice lines are not exactly on my banned list.

Yeah my ethos is basically to just treat people the way I’d like to be treated.

Not only is it not toxic but they should really add the ability to perform a proper tea bag in this game. Tea bagging was, is, and will always be hilarious.

I get a chuckle. Probably more context needed but if it’s a one off or a couple times no. If there’s toxic banter in the match from that person before hand or after it can be.

That’s an interesting way of thinking of it, I hadn’t thought of it that way before.

I go with intent - what was the intended purpose. Did you mean to be rude? Or were you trying to be silly? (but even then, being silly can go too far.)

I like to type death sounds like “Aaaaahhh!”, and “death wail” in chat, to really drive home that I died.

Yea, whenever you shoot and kill someone in real life remember not to tbag them because it is toxic. :sunglasses:
