The amount of times I hear ‘oh they have Brig, gg’ or ‘Oh, Brig is unkillable’ cause she survived with like 10hp. Like she can’t do much when you focus her and sniper annihilate her. More often than not when people call Brig unkillable she literally falls over in the next second.
I don’t really get why that myth is still around.

It was never about him being a sniper, and it CERTAINLY wasn’t dominated by them, since Tracer was the other DPS.
Ladder metas? well there is a bunch more then 
You know S76, Tracer, Genji was the meta for a couple of seasons, and it wasn’t dive.
But there was only one sniper in it.
Still was not dominated by snipers OR excessive defenses.
But how many of which would be a “steady state” they could create, that also would make pros and streamers happy.

How is Pharah a soft counter. As a Brig main Pharah, Junkrat, and Mcree are the top 3 counters imo. Probably Doomfist too.

GOATs was a Deathball meta.
DoubleBarrier read either Bunker or Deathball.
SuperHog was a NoBarriers meta.
Even if they are playing musical chairs with this, it’s Dive’s turn.
Or rather Dive is the “freshest” meta.
They don’t play turns.
They try to balance the game. The idea of “taking turns in Meta’s” is not what balance looks like.
It is for the top 3% when they don’t have a way to artificially randomize the meta, like a ban system.
That said for Hero Bans.
Limit the ban options to the top 5 most picked heroes per role, and you only get to pick between 3 randomized choices within that range.
Similarly, with the voting structure. Either you go with.
Really, it’s all just mathematical “Game Theory”, like a “Prisoners Dilemma”.
You don’t need to artificially randomise the meta either.
Balancing will sort it out.
If they balanced the game for the top 3% to have variety, then you’d probably get a lot less variety for the other 97%.
And the top 3% would probably still just reduce things down to the one singular comp with the most upsides and least downsides.
Except that isn’t how it ends up with balancing.
If there is a comp they have settled on, it is that they are using the fact it is unbalanced in some way.
How on earth is phara a soft counter? You can spam rockets into her well out of her range to the point SHE LITERALLY cannot hit you. That is a hard counter if I’ve ever heard of one.
