Just found visor.gg and I want to use it to help improve my game but I want to make sure that Blizzard won’t ban me for using it. As far as I know, it is just an overlay. Tell me what you guys think.
Edit: I have read through the posts and decided to let Blizzard make a call because I really don’t want to get banned thanks everyone for the input and I can see where both parties are coming from.

Don’t risk it. It’s legality is currently in question, and a couple of high profile members of the community are currently asking Blizzard to get it banned.

My guess is it gets banned.
If you can only improve with 3rd party apps that give tips and info mid game, are you really improving at Overwatch?

I mean, most people just play the game. Why do you need special third-party tools?
My philosophy is: better safe than sorry. Better to learn slowly than to get banned for “cheating,” regardless whether it is actually cheating or not.

I will always go with ‘‘it’s not safe unless Blizzard says you’re allowed’’.
The pro’s have coach’s that give them advice on things they need to work on. Granted it is not during play itself but the way I see it Visor may be useful in teaching people certain fundementals they may not be aware of and would not likely notice on their own.
In theory the advice would get so ingrained into a player that uses visor that they may not need it after a time because they are looking to prevent visor from giving them tips by pre-emptively and pro-actively looking for things to improve upon in a match before it see’s it.

I’ve compiled an average opinion of replies you’ll receive:
“If you need or want a coach, you’re not good at Overwatch.”

I would say it would make them more reliant on it.
Even so, do you deserve to rank up if the only way you can do it is by receiving tips and info on enemy ultimates from a 3rd party source mid game?

As others said I wouldn’t risk my account playing with the software until there is an official blizzard response
So, how about creating ticket and asking CS? No one here can help you with that(actually some could, but they’re not really reading posts, so …).
The Visor Devs claim they have been in contact with Blizzard and that its perfectly safe to use.
Blizzard themselves have not said anything official but The guys that made visor have actual investors, so it really in their best interest that its legal to use.
Still i would take it with a grain of salt until we get an official stance from Blizzard

In the short term you may be right. At first they may become reliant on the info it gives. However, after being told your healers are dying to soon in match after match you are likely to instinctively start looking for it before hand for example.
It can help a player recognize patterns of behavior and change them. Not everyone can afford a coach and only having a single match or even a small sample of matches reviewed after the fact are not likely to identify patterns.
What honest harm is there in having a program look for issues and teach you to look for them yourself?
However, I can understand people not liking it during the match ( I don’t personally see it as an issue as I do not think it would change the outcome of any individual match) which makes me wonder if the developers of visor would be able to create a mode where it can review full footage of matches and give a breakdown of potential mistakes for players to review after the fact.
Just my thoughts on it though.

Reviewing the match post game is fine.
Keeping track of average damage/healing is fine.
Having pop ups alerting you to enemy ult status and who on your team to protect is not fine.

Well, first thing to mention is that it guesses at enemy ults. It does not know if they have it. Which is essentially the same thing as making a guess yourself.
The only potential I see from it would be teaching someone to start thinking about enemy ults themselves as I believe a human can better understand when an enemy has ultimate then any algorithm can due to observing the behavior of an enemy as no program can do that as of yet that I am aware of. Which means humans are going to still be better at it than visor.
This means the only advantage it may provide on ult status side is when fighting opponents who do not track enemy ults at all while still being at a disadvantage against those who do. Which entails that they would need to work on looking for ults themselves to progress anywhere above Bronze level in that state of mind.
As for who to protect, I am uncertain why that is an issue as the killfeed already tells you who is dying first in an engagement. Visor only makes it more noticeable by compiling that information which means that in order to get this advice they would have had to fail several push’s or defensive holds already for this information to be available.
Why do I keep seeing this question on the forums lately???
keep an eye on forums. for the moment it’s allowed but Blizzard has yet to denounce it so if they do it will be here on forums first, then they’ll block it in game. it’s safe to use for now, just keep an eye out.
Jayne outright said it has the “POTENTIAL” to become a cheating tool, but it in its current state, is fine (awful) .
Stylosa is stirring the pot to get clickbait views.
everybody is tied up on this issues but it’s not reliable. in 4 rounds of qp, I’ve gotten this tip 1 time, and it was 15-20 seconds after they ulted. if you came to be reliant on visor for that, you’re gonna see your gameplay suffer.
I would not take the risk. Blizzard is already checking for certain processes to detect aimbots etc. Who know, they might suddenly check for overlays too and then no amount of pleading will undo your ban.
