I’ve been in Petra for 2 hours and 24 minutes waiting for match of open queue competitive. I’m <500 bronze so I’m not expecting anything but heard there were less smurfs there. I’m beginning to think there is something wrong with matchmaking.
it could be because not a lot of people are in <500 rank
I’m sure of that, but does that mean I can’t play the new mode at all?
They have a bug in their matchmaking.
Being that low means your throw, and not many do that to that extend. It’s not a bug.
No throwing. Me and my daughter play together. She’s really good at Dva and I enjoy Sigma. Either I’m the worst player in the history of Overwatch, or there is some other explanation for losing 5 matches for every 1 win at <500. It also doesn’t explain why I can’t play in ‘open’ queue competitive. Are low SR players banned? I heard there were less smurfs there so I queued up. It’s been over 3 hours in Petra, no game found. Sorry, that is 3 hours and 28 minutes, just this time. What’s up Blizzard? The players keep asking how I rack up over 300 deaths and I just tell them I’m stuck here. They actually stop killing each other and chat. I appreciate the company. Who would have thought you could get lonely in a deathmatch, but after 3 hours…
Gonna assume you play in EU because of your name, do you really expect to get a game at 3/4am on a dead mode while being on the bottom 1% of the player base? Try playing at peak hours or on NA.
Nope, here in the US. I don’t expect anything, well except I didn’t expect to wait for almost 4 hours to play a game. I’m in Blizzard Pergatory. If they haven’t found a match after 30 minutes, they should kick me out of the queue.
Maybe you should try and play quick play more often, get better and then go back into competitive. If your really stuck below 500 sr, try and make a new account cause thats the only way to actually get out of bronze without wasting hours of your life waiting for competitve to que up
The matchmaker now waits until it has a minimally acceptable match before it will let you play. If there aren’t enough people close enough to your skill level in the mode you queue for, it will never find you a match. People used to exploit the previous system that gave up and gave an unfair match after a while.
I can understand that. I wish it would give up on me and tell me it can’t find a match. I’m at 4 hours and 4 minutes and still here in Petra.
I had this when i tried to place lowest possible in comp ffa on one of my accounts. I was killing myself on purpose. After few games i was waiting over hour for a match, so i stopped because few more games and i would never find a match.
Your case has to be similar. I have no clue how you can be so low in mode you didnt play before tho.
There is honestly only one way how to fix it. You have to let someone a lot higher to try play on it. Someone who will try to raise your MMR so its not ultra low.
DONT TRY TO FIND A MATCH THERE UNLESS SOMEONE A LOT HIGHER WILL BOOST IT, OR NEXT TIME YOU WILL WAIT EVEN MORE
When i am thinking about, maybe grouping up with someone who is low silver or normal bronze migh help, even better if you find two people to group up with them. It should give you better chance to find a match.
This is just another way of saying that matchmaking and SR are broken. Blizzard’s procedure is creating accounts that get ‘stuck’ in bronze.
I can assure you that “no account” is stuck in bronze forever. I climbed out once…
I think its because lots of bronze players have not yet figured out that there is that mode yet , Maybe .
I understand the response of ‘play more QP first’ and will not disagree. What is interesting is that I placed in Silver/Gold with various roles through the placement matches. Either the placement system is flawed or the normal matchmaking system is flawed, take your pick.
I would like to think that low ranked players believe that role queue saved the game, so the chances that you’ll find a game with people in your SR range are probably non-existent. While it might not be fair to you, your situation is like trying to play a multiplayer game that requires 6 people to start a game but only has 3 people playing at any given time.
This is a good theory. What I would ask is why should they let a player wait for over 4 hours for a match? Why not cancel the queue with a message like “Can’t find a match, try again later”. Instead I was left in Petra to wait for new players to arrive only to have them leave 2 minutes later. Some would come back and recognize me and ask how long I had been there. They would start asking if I was ok or needed a hug. At one point I had -111 kills and over 350 deaths. I would start jumping off cliffs to entertain myself. I made up new games like ‘king of the hill’ or ‘only turrent kills count’. Blizzard doesn’t care, but the other players certainly did and they found it somewhat disturbing. As for myself, I found my own form of entertainment so I’m ok, but it really brought to the surface a bug in the Blizzard matchmaking system.
