Is it me or supports feel super weak?

I got a weird feeling when I play supports. I feel weak. Just weak. With the game being now so much faster and basically tanks and dps have now so much more dmg I just feel like I am not impacting the game like I used to. It is just too fast and there is too much dmg to keep up.

The whole game feels like its just pew pew pew now with some objective in the background.

Play lucio and stop 1 tricking mercy.

Supports are not weaker. The game is just faster and less forgiving in general.
DPS also die faster than before, Tanks are the only ones that truly feel like tanks and can take a beating.

I imagine it would be, now that they have one less tank to cover for them.

The support role has changed from what it was in overwatch 1

You no longer are just about healing but support is actually helping your dps and tanks to get kills. You need to prioritise targets and either communicate or trust your other support to do different to you.

Supports now need to play more aggressive to passive and your team also needs to know where heal packs are. You can’t save everyone but it’s about picking the right person to heal at the right time and that’s just gonna be practice.

A mercy for example will be more aggressive with the damage boost rather than just healing, the pistol also useful.

Ana can 2 shot some heroes if the dps help follow up with a bit of damage to finish off. Zen is still zen. Kiriko’s a deadly murderer if she can land headshots and follow your dps into the backline with tp. Lucio is a good passive all round heal.

It’s just a new way to play but we’ve been locked behind double shield for so long that we’ve forgotten/got used to playing passively. It’s been refreshing as heck to be able to put an input into the games. Surprisingly damage also (I feel) gets your ults faster these days.

In addition game sense and using cover is going to be the play going forwards, the maps have been redesigned to help cater for this it’s just again learning where the new peak spots are.

Old but always good.

L2P.

Support is trash in OW2 unfortunately. DPS and Tanks got huge buffs while support got nothing. Worse still, CC was largely removed and the absence of a second tank means that the enemy flankers can just run right up and kill you.

In the betas, nobody wanted to play support and we all knew that would be the case on live as well.

Many tanks have more dmg, dps generally got dmg nerfs or their dmg stayed the same. They are able to deal dmg more often now without all the barriers and tanks.

I mean what they said is true honestly, playing the new hero or any hero for that matter that’s a healer feels very underpowered. Given there have been numerous instances I will be giving someone my full attention and they still die. Its not a L2P issue but a balance issue.

For me queue times were near instant for all roles.

Well yeah, if a first person shooter game doesnt feel pew pew pew, it would have been a colossal failing…

Does OP mean Support, or do they mean Mercy healbot?

That’s a glorified way to say that support now have to be secondary DPS, cause really that’s what it is.

In the original Overwatch supports were already more than healers, only in lower elos people would only heal. They could do everyhing you’re saying they should do now, nothing has changed.

I know the game has only been up for a few hours but the first meta will inevitably be a form of Dive and that just mean you’ll have the exact same meta as we had in Overwatch but with one less tank. So basically the supports that work are the same as back then and they play the same way they did back then.

yeah we’re getting dove on and hardly anyone wants to group up. it’s rough for mercy cus you can’t even sustain by bouncing between people - everyone’s off doing their own thing. superjumping is weird now, you can hit crouch at any point during GA and will fly upwards but you won’t get much air. you get a bit more doing crouch > GA like before and then hitting space. the valve is weird too. her healing is quite low (can’t outheal anything) and people are too engaged in duels to run for cover so you can heal them up and resume the fight with DB. she is way too team dependent for OW2.

i’m sorry. i think mercy needs to at least have valk on a short CD. maybe try out kiriko/moira/ana in the meantime?

don’t you have a doom thread to cry about?

why do so many of the Company Cheerleaders™️ act like sociopaths? and why do they have the same response tree? “git gud (as if Hardcore Gamers ever took this franchise seriously)/L2P/no one cares/this is just business”

this is the behaviour that will get associated with the game and fans of its new direction. very drone-like.

Only if someone play it bad or is bad.

Supports work well if one know how to play them.

Mkay, if you feel that way then.

It’s also only day one and a lot of people are just spamming heroes to try and see if they’re any good.

On the other side of the coin, the dps passive is also a bit too oppressive at the moment with the mini kitsune rush. Should be changed to either reload or speed not both. I think that’s part of the problem aside from a shift in gameplay style. It really does favour some heroes more than others. They tweak this either reduce the time, or make it either/or it’ll be a bit better too as an experience.

Maybe you must simple accept many supports are playing bad and now supports need to start to defend themself instead hiding behind no skill shield.

No more stay far from the team sleeping, no more no skill shield covering their lack of game awareness, no more stuns for people lack of aim.

Now simple the skills of the players and how good they coordinate with the team do the difference.

I was watching one of the best Moira players in the world getting obliterated yesterday, it was crazy to watch :joy:

I think just give it time and people will eventually get used to how fast paced the game is.
