^ Title. Hit me with some stats if possible pls.
Ana is trash, Zen is about to be trash,
all the BS supports are OP, and Far Cry 5 is coming out tomorrow.
Why play?
No, theyāre still here but theyāre Narcissists looking for attention by blaming every problem on āDPS mainsā and then uninstalling only to reinstall a week later.
Also just because you donāt see people playing Tanks or Healers doesnāt mean Support and Tank mains left. Thereās also a thing called Flexing, you know.
its more that i see a lot more ppl around with their top 3 heros being dps rather than tanks/supports. More so than compared to late 2016/early 2017.
Iām a flex player (more DPS and heals than tank for now though) and I play nearly every day. Does that count?
Top 3 played (all modes): Genji, Mercy, Lucio
If you think Zen is going to be trash with a slightly decreased firing rate on his secondary fire while having the two strongest aspects of his kit - Discord and Trans - untouched, then you were really never a good Zen to begin with.
This game is (well, WAS) an FPS game. Many of those who bought it enjoy FPS mechanics. The tank and healer classes have very few heroes that appeal to those seeking a mechanically-intense character to play. The past 2 healers added have continued this trend.
It is unsurprising that those classes are less commonly played than they once were.
However, I do not think this trend will necessarily continue in that direction. I think many people are now realising that the Overwatch team has decided to reduce the reward one gets in this game for mechanical skill. Blizzard is kind of āphasing outā the FPS part of this game.
Now that this is becoming more apparent, those who enjoy FPS games are likely to leave the game faster. Those who enjoy types of games where aiming is unimportant are likely to try out the game and find it more to their tastes.
I think we are just seeing a shifting demographic now.
I am 1 myself too. I started off as Mercy main, to able to play all supports, to able to play all tanks, to maining Rein, to able to play a few dps. But when I check profiles its either ppl with most support/tank hrs in the first 4-5 seasons then suddenly a huge shift to dps, or just beginning with only dps only.
I was actually the opposite. I donāt remember what I started maining but I switched to support (and eventually just Mercy) in S3-S8. S9 is when I started flexing onto other roles more.
just feels like compared to previous years, way more ppl would go full dps/mostly dps team than trying to build a viable comp. occasionally seeing 1 tank, but most of the time it would be no tank with 1/2 healers. I remember the game used to have way more ppl who were willing to tank
The only reason why I donāt play a tank is that there isnāt a Talon tank in the game just yet. So, Blizzard, hurry up and give us the edgy tank we all need!
Oh, haha, itās one of those āyou were trash with him to begin withā, āGet gudā kids haHAA. Cool.
Iāve played him on the PTR. It doesnāt feel good to me; it feels more sloppy. That 15% speed reduction might mean the difference between life or death for Zen. That 15% can determine whether or not you kill the Genji diving you with Dragonblade out. It can determine whether or not you kill that jumping Winston before he dives you.
Idk, I might need to play with it more, but if Dive is going to stick around for another 6 months, Iām sure as hell not gonna play that much Zenyatta.
I was a support mainā¦until I essentially became a 1 trick of a support. Which is PRECISELY why I quit being a support main. That, and I found greener pastures. I could have been a support main and made Doomfist my secondaryā¦but apparently not.
As I said in a previous thread: In order to be a TRUE flex player, you need to be a DPS main. As a DPS main, you switching to any hero is a BENEFIT to the team. Your team would be HAPPY with you playing Support/Tank.
As a Support/Tank mainā¦Youāre stuck with either of those forever. You have no flexibility because they really donāt WANT you to be. Theyāll never be happy with you playing DPS every now and then (And I know all too well about thatā¦) Itās always: āStick with what youāre best at, which should be what you play the mostā¦PLAY (Insert Support/Tank hero here.)ā
For me it was Anaā¦and it was āAna-oyingā (I triedā¦) I got burnt out because of this. Playing Ana became an obligation, not a thing I did because I loved her. And I DID LOVE HER for a while. The players killed her for me, not the meta. (Rantās overā¦this is a topic I take kinda seriously. It also killed VC for me and subsequently just chat in general.)
I think it also causes e a lot of tank and healer players to switch to DPS roles because of that reason. On top of that, it always feels more rewarding to play as a DPS and rely mostly on your own mechanical skills to kill things, as compared to having āteam workā as part of your mechanical skill (like Reinhardt).
Iām playing Moira in comp, but dps wants to nerf her so hard - it might end soon
Zen is an essential part of dive, probably the most important after Winston.
Support/Tank/Defense main here! -waves- I know my role and Iām apt at playing it.
(Donāt get me wrong I love nailing POTG as Lucio for my boops,) but Iām here to play to the best of my abilities & to do everything in my power to make sure my team secures the win.
