because you really dont need to speak in the game. U can mark opponents, which is faster than trying to say i vocally, and second, over all the talking and communcating, you cant hear the important sounds.
This is why its so easy have and virus someone as their sound isnt up, or that reaper flanks behind, even though hes got loud footsteps or makes noice when he “ports”

No one wants to offend someone slightly, they want to avoid being falsely reported and banned because the system is automated.

News recently about profanity being ban-worthy, and a pro player even losing his job over it.
A lot more bans since AI developments to analyse chat. Also a lot less chance to appeal a ban since AI support bots.

No more than usual. I’m still getting the normal amount of chatter, including one QP Genji who told his Ana to “KYS” and called her mentally retarded before ragequitting the game. (She failed to sleep the Rein before he got shatter off on the nanoblading Genji.)
Sometimes i think about making callouts but its funnier to watch my team get flanked
I thought the issue was my headset, nearly bought a new one, wonder what can cause people to not talk in game anymore

The game has been quiet since late days of OW1. It was only toxicity when OW2 came out. They should have done it earlier when the game was in it’s earlier stage but the people that got verbally abused too much stopped communicating. Just now the toxic loudmouths are muted or banned so no one talks anymore.

I communicate, and few minutes ago, i learned that i’m banned, without any reason given.
Yes, i wonder why people don’t communicate anymore.
I wonder why i will never communicate anymore after i can return in game, mic will be unplug just to be sure, i will also disable chat ingame just to be sure i don’t even type in any letter by accident.
Because if you say anything outside of “GG” you get banned. I am banned currently for sarcastically saying a team “cheesed” after getting worked in a round.
Well, when you can get banned for using wrong words/reported for basically nothing…
Too many special snowflakes playing OW2 nowadays who get offended when you use a swear word… Not like OW2 is rated T for teen or anything, right?

Not really. My games have always been pretty quiet since the game launched, though every now and again you’ll get the random:

I’m not buying the hyper offended reporting and that everyone is banned for no reason argument.
In my games the flaming is as strong as ever and we constantly type the usual nonsense that has been yelled on the streets and typed in games since the dawn of time. F this and F that and F u etc. You’d think I’d be perma banned by now but all I got was very rare warnings once in a blue moon.
What I don’t see in games, is personal attacks outside the game context, no matter how aggressive the flaming gets, it pretty much stays within the boundaries of the game.
I have a feeling some people can’t help but to formulate personal attacks of unacceptable nature, then come here being all pikachu shocked for being reported.
People are all scared of the banhammer that everyone now wields
People have realised that getting suspended is waaaaaay too easy now. Best just not to give anyone anything to use against you.
