I feel the new highlight intros released since OW2 aren’t as good as OW1. I’d say a small majority of them are good, but MOST are simply too clunky looking, don’t focus on the ‘cool part’ of the hero/are not zoomed in enough, or the execution is just plain wrong. I have severe OCD, with some knowledge of correct camera work, so I just can’t stand looking at most of them.
Examples;
Soujorn - ‘Leader’ looks plain dumb, and for ‘Optics’, she’s being covered by the POtG text. She should’ve been on the right side instead. Not enough zoom, either.
Junker Queen - ‘C’mere’ once again, needs more zooming. ‘Rampage’ looks clunky. She should be running toward the camera, instead of away. ‘Five Fingers’ is ended at an awkward time. Instead of just slowing down with her looking at the camera, it should pan down in front of her hand & the knife. Then, she’d slam it down into the wood and grin. I think it’d be much better that way.
Kiriko - ‘Night & Day’ is perfectly fine to me, but it’d be cool if the Ofudas fluttered around/blocked the camera first, just to make the intro a bit less predictable, and showier. I don’t have any other problems with her highlight intros - they’re all good.
That’s all the examples I’ll explain, but for an honorable mention; it’ll be Junkrat’s ‘Gotcha’.
First, I feel it’s not inclusive of the other heroes, considering ‘we’ are supposedly S76. The camera shouldn’t blatantly reveal a specific hero in any highlight intro unless it is the hero that received POtG. It should’ve just had the sound of the trap going off - without revealing who is in it - while still showing the bombs & tire. The most annoying part about this one is that it turns from 1st person to 3rd person. The ending scene should be Junkrat looking at US, NOT off-camera.
Anyway, I’m done ranting now. Have a good day.
