I was just wondering because I don’t want to get banned or anything if I do try this.
Software macros are not allowed I’m pretty sure
Are you talking about something with your keyboard? Hardware that is?
I can set up buttons on my mouse to press more than one key at once, is that considered a software macro?
You use software to program the mouse to hit two keys when you hit one correct?
That sounds pretty suspect to me, but I don’t know the specifics on the rules.
Yes, because it’s an advantage. Any third part tool are not allowed, including macros.
Okay, I’m just gonna not use it unless I find out it is allowed. Thanks for the input y’all
That’s the safest option.
Does that include binding your macro to do a voice line combination?
Macros (a protocol to bind two or more actions to a single input) are considered cheating by Blizzard and if detected can result in severe actions against your account.
Really? I’ve seen someone using macros for chat purposes. And they were pretty high level, so I imagine they’d been doing it for a while.
It wasn’t anything that affected the game, though. Just a re-hash of that old ‘cat facts’ meme.
i read somewhere blizz has 1 keypress = 1 action policy.
Yikes. I use my g502 to super jump with Mercy. Guess I’m getting the ban hammer.
what if its something that triggers a voice line or spray when you use an ability or attack?
There are people playing with wallhacks and aimbots that don’t get banned.
Macro away, you will never get caught.
i think a macro that uses 1 button to press 2 buttons 1 after the other is not doing anything you couldn’t just do normally so how can it even be detected.
i know razer synapse only lets you create those kind of macros, it doesnt allow simultaneous keypresses.
How would they tell the difference between a software macro and, say, physically installing a 2-wide key cap onto a mechanical keyboard so that 2 switches are activated simultaneously?
If they’re going to have a no software macro policy, it should at least be enforceable without false positives.
You can do the Super jump as long as there is no macros. So say having your crounch and ability 1 programmed in a sequence is illegal, now if you have a custom mouse button binded to just crouch or ability 1, then that is fine.
