Is hidden ELO a thing?

Bronze and silver are laughably easy for a mid-gold. You do not get caught 500+ SR from your true SR. I think I have a 98% winrate in silver.

Source?

Again, there is no evidence for this, and no reason to believe it, it’s just a dogmatic belief. It’s incoherent, circular logic - the SR system is right, because the SR system is right.

No, because when I was low gold I didn’t get caught in silver. When I’m plat I don’t get caught in low gold, etc. You’re bronze, buddy, or you wouldn’t be “caught” in bronze.

“A thing didn’t happen to me, therefore it doesn’t exist!”, the logic of the “elo hell isn’t real, git gud!” people.

How many accounts do you have? How many are in bronze? 100%? Clearly you most be a gold level player. LAUGH

The SR system is accurate, because the SR system is accurate! I know the SR system is accurate, because the SR system says it is accurate! I am very smart!

In season 1, before there was such a thing as bronze/silver/gold/etc., I ranked in gold equivalent. In season 2, in gold. In season 3, in gold. In season 4, in gold. In season 5, in gold. In 6, in gold. On and on, etc. Until a streak of leavers, throwers (literally announcing “I am throwing lol” in chat), etc., somehow meant that my skill had deteriorated.

Again, you don’t even fundamentally understand the problem. You look at threads about “elo hell”, and you see an opportunity to troll and do your “git gud” shtick, where you’d do better to see an opportunity to work on reading comprehension. If your response to these issues is “git gud”, you aren’t getting it.

The game grants individual rank, based on non-individual performance. That is the root issue. And the arguments of “well, it will balance out” only work if you aren’t very good at math.

The player base got better. You didn’t. So you fell in rank. It’s 100% you. You are now a bronze player. Work on your game, deal with it, or uninstall.

Idk why you’re quoting this as if someone said it.

Anyway, I see what you’re saying, you think a gold-level support player in bronze wouldn’t be able to climb out.

Yes they would.

On average, each team will have 6 bronzes. However, if one of those bronzes is consistently playing at a gold level, vsing the other 6 bronzes, they would be winning a majority of their games, and climbing.

The game gives rank based on winning. If you’re not doing the things necessary to win, then you’re not deserving of SR.

If you’d like coaching, let me know.

Again, work on reading comprehension. If you’re able to read “streak of leavers, throwers”, and that sentence translates to some meaningful statement of skill - on my part, or the part of the broader community - you aren’t understanding what you’re reading. Try to read and understand things like a big boy adult, and see if you can understand why “git gud” is such a non sequitur here.

If you’re not interested in trying to understand things like a big boy grown up, and would rather troll, couldn’t you troll somewhere else?

If someone at an appropriate SR for their skill gets a streak of leavers, they are now below the SR of their skill, carry matches, and go back to their true SR. When someone at an SR above their skill level gets a streak of leavers, they adjust to their proper SR then stay there.

Let us guess which of those applies to you.

You.
Are.
Bronze.

He doesn’t want coaching. He wants excuses.

EDIT: If he spent as much time working on his game as he is typing this next reply, he’d be plat by now. I’ve played a game, come back, and he’s still typing.

EDIT2: Played 2 games. Still typing. Why don’t you post us a replay and I’ll evaluate it for you while you type?

Source? Again, this is dogma, but you’re stating it as fact. You have no data, and no logical reason to believe this, it’s just something that gets repeated a lot, and taken for fact on the basis of absolutely nothing. “SR is accurate, because SR is accurate”, it’s nonsense. There is no reason to believe that a gold Mercy or Lucio will, routinely, successfully offset an entire team. A player at skill 100, being able to offset an entire team of players at skill 10, does not equal out to a player at skill 11 being able to do the same.

This is a dramatic oversimplification of the variables involved, and a variant of the usual “it balances out” arguments.

Yes, given enough time, if it is always 1 gold and 5 bronzes, things will work out. But when you understand math, and you understand that the SR value of one loss is greater than the SR value of one win, you will come to understand that “enough time” represents an unrealistic number of games. If two games in a row, with someone in chat saying “I’m throwing lol”, requires an additional three games just to stay even (and that’s assuming no further throwing, leavers, derankers, smurfs, etc.), that’s pretty poor design.

If you say you can’t conceive of a situation in Overwatch where one player “does the things necessary to win”, but still loses because it is a team game, you’re being intellectually dishonest.

Again, you’ll say some variant of “it will balance out”, “if you do the things necessary to win in your role, you will win most of the time”, but it simply won’t. One loss now necessitates one-plus win just to remain even, and it spirals into a time investment that normal people aren’t going to make. Most of the players aren’t streaming for twitch in 14 hour blocks, and if the answer to a poorly designed system is asking players to just brute force past it by putting in 1,000+ games per season, that’s also poor design.

Middle school logic. If you have more higher skilled players than the other team, you will logically win more than 50% of your games.

Source? You seem fundamentally incapable of understanding that you have no data, and no reason to believe what you believe. You’re so eager to make your “git gud” posts, that you can’t take a moment to read and comprehend what’s being said to you, or why.

It kinda just sounds like youre looking for an excuse to feel better about being bronze. Would you like coaching so you can get out?

I’m sorry, I was trying to help you to understand something that seems to be evading you. I’ll just follow your lead and stick to “lmao”, “git gud hehe” etc., that definitely makes for better conversation.

That is middle school logic, but I need you to think a little harder on it, and try to come to a better understanding than you might get from an eleven year old. There are a lot more variables to it than you’re allowing for. You have a simplistic, black-and-white view of it, and you won’t hear of anything else.

I didn’t say anything like that. I simply stated a fact that everyone but you understands: you play like a bronze player, so you are in bronze. I didn’t insult you at all, like you are trying to do to us.

If you don’t think you play like a bronze player, post a replay of a close loss.

Keep throwing insults and avoiding the truth if you admit you’re bronze in skill.

Okay, well I think I’m done with you, and I probably shouldn’t have wasted so much time on it. You’ve offered nothing but “git gud” and variants thereof, if you can’t even acknowledge that, no communication is possible here, we’re just talking past each other. I’m not going to ignore what I see in the game, and you aren’t going to let go of your dataless, sourceless dogma, so why bother?
