I hopped on and the mode is gone; don’t really feel an interest in playing modern OW at this point. Did they mention if would return/be extended?

They already implied that we were going to get Moth Meta and GOATS Meta as separate modes. It was not clear if that was based on how well this one was received; however, if it was, “Classic” will return.
They will probably brag about it in the next developer update. It did extremely well contrary to what the forums would have you believed. I was getting 10 second queues last night at 1 AM.

I do not understand why it wouldn’t.
Unless this was a spree of “proving us wrong” like they tried in the long silence before Overwatch 2 with the one 1-3-2 mix.
I am stumped as to what blizzard has planned, they recaptured some love and hype but at the same time idgi. I do not understand why I’d be overtly hyped if there’s a possibility of nothing coming back. The games I left OW2 for are still there, I’ve even been stealth marketed outside of the microsoft sphere since the 6v6 return.
This has all the making of a flub. Silence is not the move, you have like 4 days lmao.

From what they said before, they will be running future owc events, during different patches of ow1. I assume the launch patch won’t be coming back, but other periods will.
You never know. The launch patch might come back as an arcade mode if the other ones flop. Which they might. I mean, Moth and GOATS were never received particularly well…
Albeit, there is that infamous “Seagull” patch that everyone loved. That could potentially dethrone actual classic.
What patch is that??

It will, but not with the same patch.
We shall see. Tho I do think if they go ahead with moth and goats, they are picking 2 terrible times in ow1. But for 3 weeks it might be fine, the issue was it was for like a year each.
Many many better non polarizing patches through ow1.

If they were smart then they should make it a permanent arcade game mode
Appease two sides of the community and update that mode occasionally or have fun with it and put the new heroes with classic as an experiment

… which are … not great, to put it mildly. Classic was just that - fun, crisp, simple. I’d wager not many will find the meta-dictated game fun. “You can play any characters, so long as they’re these 6-8 from the roster”. Nonsense …

Logged on to play classic, instead I’m waiting 1-2m+ to get into one OW2 role queue game.
I guess I could do OW2 open queue and hope 3+ people pick tanks on my team.
it should be, and honestly instead of bothering with 6v6 test they should just support classic as its own thing. It didnt disrupt my OW2 queues at all and seemed to make many people happy. They could just re run the whole lifecycle instead of these 6v6 tests. Just speed run all the patches and hero releases with OW1 rules and call it a day IMO.
Plus why would I a 5v5 player bother doing the 6v6 stuff? But classic stuff? As someone who didnt experience it I would actually have interest in doing that.

Yeah, that’s why I believe classic was the first week, moth second week, and goats third week. Kind of weird that they are all going to be three weeks…

They dont even need to update the classic. I rather play launch overwatch with no updates and no skin changes either. It was just a better game to play 6v6. I jus played a game of 5v5 and wanted to throw up. Guess i wont be playin till they bring back 6v6 again.

Yep. I thought having a different meta each week was a very novel idea that kept a fresh gamemode fresh the whole time, tbh. And then we found out it was only OWC…and then they removed no limits in a mode where there were 3 supports and a small handful of tanks and the fun of it was gone for me, lol. The only non-comp mode I actually had some enjoyment in for the last 2 years, too.
That said, if in the future we get different versions and then it eventually returns as a permanent, rotating, game mode…imagine how awesome that could be. They could use each of the major patches they gave us as a limited event as the basis for such a permanent game mode.

That’s what I dug about it, and what got me hooked.
The roster is simple, the maps are fun, all the characters are strong in what they do, and no one is really overpowered in the extreme. Everyone could have their moment in a match, with whatever character you chose.
It’s a shame the devs couldn’t bring themselves to put it in Arcade.
