As Reinhardt’s squire, would she be considered a Crusader?
Yes?
That would make her the newest addtion to the Crusader program.
The way things are going with Reinhardt, he will probably end up as her squire soon. Or dead.
I figured it would, but when I tried to add her to the Crusader roster over on the wiki, I was shot down. They said that Reinhardt was no longer a Crusader, so thus Bridgitte isnt one either.
Oh yeah, since the Crusaders were pretty much gone after the battle of Eichenwalde (by Reinhardt’s words, he is only one to survive).
If Rein is the final one, the order still lives unless he specifically states he disbanded it.
Well then, I guess we have to wait for the lore team to confirm this theory.
Since Rein wouldn’t have the guts to just disband his most influential group to him.
I would love if they did. Bridgitte becoming the start of a new generation of Crusaders. A Crusaders resurgent.
Well she doesn’t wear Crusader armor. So probably no.
Well she does have her own power armor, but as a squire, she wouldnt wear a full knight’s armor anyway. Thats something reserved for full knights.
Well, the Crusader are a bit of an oddity.
-
They are a German military unit, but do not have a German name. The German name would be “Kreuzritter” by the way.
-
Reinhardt is currently not part of the Crusader, but part of the defunct Overwatch. I am still a bit surprised that they let him keep the military grade equipment.
-
Brigitte is Swedish, which makes it a bit odd to be part of a German military program.
-
Well they were not part of the German military, but worked in conjunction with them.

Im pretty sure that the armor worn by the Crusaders were all personally owned sets. Possible exception is Reinhardt’s armor he wore during the Battle of Eichenwalde, as by the time he is seen in Overwatch he is wearing his more well known set of armor. Its also possible that his original armor just got too damaged over the years and had to be replaced, since by the time we see him in his more simplistic armor it has been several years fighting as part of the OWST).
The way the organization is depicted that is the Crusaders were essentially Balderich’s private militia, funded by his city / private accounts (basically powered armored private security contractors, except Balderich would only accept contracts for the German government)
- With Reinhardt as the last surviving Crusader (that we know of), he would get to call the shots on who or who not is allowed in. Since Bridgitte has been with Reinhardt for so long, he is more than aware of her capabilities. Plus he knows he is aging and needs to leave some form of heir to “take up his shield”. Just as he took up Balderich’s shield, he is training Bridgitte to take up his.
Even tho Overwatch is coming back, it still fell in darkness. The Crusaders never succumbed to corruption.
