Is Blizzard still doing Cheat Ban Waves? đŸš«

I know you wont normally see an aimbotter these days in Overwatch compared to when it first started, but GM’s still come across the occasional cheater.

Are these Script kiddies still running rampart after all this time or are people giving up and still trying to cheat and getting banned for it on waves?

In Other words, The Overwatch team used to notify us when ban waves went out for cheaters. Is this still happening or did we get em all and Overwatch is the first FPS game in history to be cheat free?

What did that notification look like? Never seen it before.

Yea, they post names of specific accounts on the Korean forums I believe. On NA and Eu though its just done under the radar. There are very very few cheaters in the game which is really nice, accounts get banned almost instantly when detected so it is not very profitable for cheats to be created for this game. blizz has also been suing a few cheat-creators in the asian countries these past few months. They have won a few cases already and are still going strong.

doesn’t feel like it. Either plat players grown better, or i encounter cheaters more often

There are still cheaters in this game. Because after ban waves, Blizzard turns around and sells them new accounts so they can say they have 40, 000, 000 copies sold.

Also one of the items you can report for is CHEATING, they wouldn’t need that if they believed the game is cheat free.

Cheating is rampart. I got in a game with an “aimboot” sym. Everyone was laughing, even his team mates. He got POTG. I really want a ban wave. Aimboot, triggerbot, BHScripts(liks cs) macro too many.

Source for these claims?

What would an aimbot do for Symmetra? xD

No game like this remains cheat free forever, security is always an ongoing process.

Don’t know the exact sources for all the info as I’ve learned most of this over-time, so I’ll give you what I could immediately find.

Here is an example of the type of forum posts which are made:

Just like I thought. A ban wave list from 2 years ago.

Naming and shaming cheaters:

(That’s for the Chinese, but they do it for Koreans as well)

For them going after cheat creators.

I can’t read korean, I googled ban wave and an english forum post was the first result. If you want to look through the korean and chinese forums for these posts you can if you want.

The OC asked if they were “still” doing ban waves. You linked to a ban wave from 18 months ago.

When was the last time there was one?

Don’t know , we all reported him. It was a OMG moment. The screen was shaking like crazy in POTG.

Ah, I see. Make a claim, tell the other person to look for the source/evidence.

Last ban wave was 18 months ago.

The latest I can find about a ban wave is from December 2017.

But if I could read Korean or Chinese, I’d be able to expand my search a ton more. Blizzard in the west rarely publicly announce ban waves, whereas their eastern counteparts are far more vocal about it.

You typically find out about western ban waves through second hand sources, especially on the forums of cheaters themselves.

I’m giving you accurate information, but I’m not going to look through the korean forums for 30 minutes to validate one guy. If you are that invested in the subject, you can find it.

Don’t they block your IP? I remember reading about people complaining that they got banned after cheating and bought a new account, which was blocked

Remember, never cheat. Warden will get you! And thank God Blizzard takes such a strong stance on this.
