Is Blizzard really going to get away with stealing?

To keep it short; it is old news that there was a text chat/shop/hero gallery bug in which typing in said chat in certain menus would take the inputs as if it were for a purchase and many people ended up purchasing things they didn’t intend, but they buy really did intend (Blizzard).

After a while the Bug has finally been fixed but they are issuing no refunds ( giving currency back and removing the not desired purchase). Their excuse being:

‘‘With items purchased in Overwatch 2, though, those aren’t something that we’re able to refund to either remove or change the currency that was used.’’

This is complete and utter bs as we all know as the creators/owners of the game, they are able to edit any currency or item for any account. How come they are adjusting items and currencies to fix the faulty merge, but can’t do a simple refund to the players that basically got robbed of their currency due to a bug that has been already been recognized as such by them?

There are many posts covering this, and this is the main one with tons of players falling victim to the same issue.

As it has been mentioned, recently Fall Guys had a similar bug and initially they took the same stance as Blizzard, about them not being able to adjust the currency. Yet when a class lawsuit was issued they immediately Fixed the bug, completed all the refunds and also compensated players with an in game item.

To add to that, its been almost a month and players still have no access to skins they already paid for, for example the origin skins not transferring over properly. Most games even do compensations for ROUTINE Maintenance, and even more if there is a bug and such. Meanwhile here we have Blizzard not only not compensating for extreme issues like these but also not even doing what is lawful and simply getting away with it.

This leaves me greatly skeptical. What are the odds “my random conversation just happened to also be a cheat code to unlock a skin I don’t want” isn’t a load of hooey?

You’d have to be really freaking exact for that to work.

Run your security suites or maybe even reload your OS.

The “random cheat code” was apparently hitting space bar twice. Not an unusual button to hit when typing

If you hit spacebar twice in your chat it brought up the shop and made a purchase.

You should have read the reddit post before commenting as you sound as ignorant as ever and worse than anything sound like a Blizzard apologist which is disgusting. Usually to type, you have to press Enter to open text chat, and then you start typing and press Enter again to Send the message. In specific menus though pressing Enter to either open chat or send message would count as pressing enter to buy and then confirm the purchase. In other menu’s as it has been mentioned by others, simply pressing space bar twice triggers it. It is weird that you are skeptical about an already reported, known and FIXED bug. Or why would you even suggest reloading OS, when again, Blizzard already said it was an issue on their side? refrain from commenting if you are just going to read a few sentences to then give useless feedback on the topic.

To be fair, this is the same company that found out people who were selling discounted in-game currency were conducting credit card scams.

And instead of rolling back accounts that bought that currency, they just put a “debt” on those accounts, forcing that account to “pay back” the amount they bought again in order to actually play the game.

No sugarcoating it, I didn’t read your post and skimmed the intro in the reddit post. :joy:

I’m outta line for responding so eagerly, but that response is amazing.

(No, don’t like my post. ;c I’m calling you a drama queen.)

He sounds like that because he is one.

Hardly. Actliblizzion sucks. :joy: But hey, you’re the expert on what I talk about. :slightly_smiling_face: Please do send links to my posts that dismiss or enforce blizzard’s poorer decisions. :+1:

Blizzard being scummy? Who would have known
