Is Blizzard looking at hero ban statistics?

The hero bans felt nice in theory because you could ban simple counterswaps i.e.
banning DVA if you want to play winston. But the problem now is that the same 6 heroes are consistently banned, at least in my diamond lobbys.

Sombra
Doom
Ana
Mercy
Freja
Zarya

I just hope Blizzard does something to the heroes that always get banned (balancing or reworking) to improve the game instead of just copying bans from rivals and moving on.

I mean, thats the whole point. Now the crucial part is knowing why X heroes are banned more and specifically, the rank break down.

They can’t read minds so they will have to look at the forums too. Remember that just because some people are ultra mad about X hero below Masters, doesn’t mean that hero is OP or needs to be reworked … it might just be a perk/numbers adjustment.

Yes they mentioned they would be announcing ban rates and monitoring why people are banning certain heroes etc.
when they show the results i’m guessing they’ll comment on it too.

yes, rework is probably unnecessary in most cases but balancing i.e removing one of frejas dashes and making the second one into a perk might be more appropriate

Yea I mean they do have Stadium to worry about also. Maybe a lot on their plate now.

Pretty much this. Untouchable characters like Ana are unlikely to get any changes worth mentioning. Less dev favorite characters like Doomfist or Sombra might get role changes for all we know.

Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if that happened, people have been complaining about doom ever since the change to tank and sombra is sombra so she will always have hate

I’ve actually seen Ball and Zenyatta getting banned more than Mercy in my games. Mercy does get banned a fair amount though.

Yeah forgot to mention ball, he is also a common ban but less common, at least in my rank

we can buff another set of heroes beyond ridiculousness? that would changed the banns. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

like lets make reaper do 400 dmg per pellet without dmg fall off…
will people still bann X over that?
