Is anyone else having performance problems?

Hello, i have a problem with overwatch 2 and it’s a very weird problem.

My game stutters and drops frame while playing.
You might say the problem is my computer, but here’s the fun part. It didn’t always happen.
Day one i had this problem and i fixed it for a while after realizing it was a Nvidia update doing it called “Nvidia Frameview” and i unistalled it.

Then the problem came back after a while, then i fixed it by adding some launch option i saw on the forums given by some other players having the same issues and it fixed it.

I had this problem again the other day and i decided to reinstall my drivers, game, my pc, and watched a lot of youtube tip and help videos about it… and it fixed… for a day.

Now i am here. What the heck should i do? My pc is not that powerful, but the game is on 55 of rendering.
It shouldn’t be heavier than most games i play.

I haven’t found a way to eliminate the freezes but changing the texture quality to low allows for faster recovering from those.

Also if you are changing the driver (and sometimes even after a patch) it is good practice to delete the settings file afterwards because using the old one can cause extra freezing.

How do i do that?

Do you mean the cache?

I think it’s the Windows 11 22H2 update, which Microsoft admitted has been causing performance issues in PC games since September. Nvidia issued a fix but honestly I still see the micro stuttering and get big frame drops that bring me down to the 50s, causing some downright terrible rubber banding and no hit regs at times. I know it’s not my PC, it’s an HP Omen the same that is used in and sponsors OWL.

You could try reverting your Windows updates back to before the 22H2 update, or downgrade to Windows 10, or if you haven’t already get the latest Nvidia fix (which honestly didn’t change anything for me). Only other option short of filing a support ticket with Blizzard is simply to wait for Microsoft to actually fix it, and who knows when that will happen.

If you find or figure anything out I’m all ears, basically stopped playing altogether because of this issue.

Hard to say since i play at 30 fps and i seen fps dipping to 10 here and there.

All i like to ask to Blizzard is why must they go and break something when there is nothing to fix.

I have had frame drops with distorted sound randomly ever since the patch. I noticed the latency will also spike when it happens. Since a lot of matches are being cancelled due to server issues, I assume it is related to server problems.

Not just you, all my other games run smoothly.
Even ow1 ran without stutters but now I’ll have massive fps drops and freezes or my game will randomly just crash.

I never had windows 11 to begin with

I was literally desperate that i had to reset my pc entirelly to find a fix. I reinstalled the game like that. I am sure it’s not this the problem

This is more of a tech support topic, but what spec is your computer in terms of processor / RAM / GPU / drive (HD? SSD? etc)? Which OS do you use? Do you get these dips in other games?

Nobody checks tech support anyway.
I am desperate

My specs are

Processor: 4-core Intel Core i7-6700HQ, 2.60 GHz, 6 MB Cache
Memory: 16 GB 2133 MHz DDR4
Storage: 1 TB 5400 RPM HDD + 512 GB PCIe SSD
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M, 4GB
Display: 15.6”, FHD (1920 x 1080)

And no. Unless it’s heavy games like GTAV or Red dead redempion 2

Ow1 run smoothly and perfectly

Nothing seems to help the freezes. The problem isn’t on our end. Seen it with others and have had enough of them myself. Makes the game unplayable a lot of the time. Oh, hey, you saw my thread.

What exactly happens to you? You have literally a beast of computer with that and it’s weird.

The Settings_v0.ini inside Documents\Overwatch\Settings

Nope. It fixed it for a match. But the second one the problem returned
