Is Ana that difficult?

I’ve been playing OW 3 years now and I mostly play support. I tried every support hero but didn’t really liked Ana so I never played her. Lately I’ve decided I need to learn more heroes and decided to start learning Ana. I was in fear I was gonna do it so bad because I’ve been hearing Ana is super difficult to play and that she needs a lot of skill. It turns out it’s just a normal character. I won’t say it’s easy, but she doesn’t take THAT MUCH skill. It’s just about knowing when to throw the grenade and if you should use it for allies or enemy team, aiming and being aware to use your ult in the best moment possible. I find her fun to play but definitely not super mega hard award winning skill.

I was quite disappointed. I mean, or I’m better than I thought I was or she’s not that difficult to play.

She’s not “that dificult”, she’s hard to master.

Imo Baptist can be harder to play than Ana with switching focus between allies and enemies, leading grenades etc.

Those numerous times I’ve had flankers eat me for breakfats completely uncontested. Missing all the shots because people are adhd as hell and can’t sit still for even two seconds. Tried learning how to play Ana for a year, got literally nowhere. To me I’d say she is pretty damn hard

Hardly difficult at all, her shots are like logs so aim isn’t exactly critical, she has an easy to hit burst heal as well as anti-heal. The only thing that you probably need to practice on her is sleep dart.

Your biggest enemy will by Roadhog’s butt blocking your shots.

She isn’t super difficult to pick up but mastering her is incredibly difficult and failure to land her abilities, using them the wrong way or using them at the wrong point in a teamfight is highly punishing at high ranks

Difficulty is pretty subjective. Being a DPS player, Ana is pretty easy for me. The constant team awareness required to play Mercy is actually more draining in my opinion. And if we’re talking about pure mechanical effort required, Baptiste puts Ana to shame.

That’s just how I feel though. There’s no real right answer.

Again ana’s difficultly isn’t about aiming or staying alive it’s optimizing her cooldowns correctly something no one below GM is doing that much I assure you

She is the most mechanical intensive support for sure, and since she has no mobility (unlike lucio, who is pretty mechanical intensive), the decision making is more “edgy” and risky.

She has the highest skill ceiling of support for sure again and probably the highest skill floor too.

My dear friend… I wish I haven’t had to 1v1 some random dps every time I approach team fight.

But, that’s just me I guess.

Healing with her isn’t difficult at all since she has an absolutely massive hitbox on allies, it’s when you start dealing damage with her that it gets hard.
So it mostly depends on whether you use her kit well or only heal (which can still get you diamond+).

Her shots are only logs on allies. Her projectiles have almost the same hitbox as hitscan against enemies.

The difficult part is the not dying to flankers.

Yeah, happened a couple of times I used the sleep dart on enemies trying to flank me and told my team that there was someone behind asleep and they just keep shooting without listening. I ended up dying ¬¬

Yea. As an Ana you have to learn to duel down flankers or at least force them to retreat.

Usually if I get a sleep and I cant secure the kill I just GTFO and go hug my main tank’s rear XD

it depends on the person, if you are comfortable with aiming, you should have more than a fair shot at playing her pretty decently well from the get go.

one thing you do have to learn though is how to kill someone by yourself that you’ve slept as your team don’t allways help you execute them.

and the next level is learning to throw anti-nades across the map in specific spots where enemy usually cluster up, but it’s really not a necessity but it’s a plus.

Ya healing easy staying alive hard

She’s not very difficult , you have to master positioning and ability management and You’ll be one of the best Ana’s - ofc if you hit your shots which is not that hard because of the big friendly hit box (I believe that’s what it’s called).

Practice a lot your sleep dart, grenade and positioning

The best Ana’s hit not only their teammates, but their enemies as well, especially those crucial sleep darts.

So you just have to master positioning, ability management, and have good aim. Reading this thread make it seems like we have a few Ana masters in the forums.

ITT some people (most of them) don’t understand the concept of some things being more difficult for others and some things being more difficult for themselves…

Ana is as easy as moira to play in comps she excels in and is only hard in comps that should never be run (3dps+).

Ana is difficult mostly because of your team. She can be easy enough to play, given that your team is not a dysfunctional pile of mess, which lets face it, happens more often than not these days in Overwatch.

She’s fun to master though, landing that sleep dart on a Genji soaring up and pressing Q is close to a certain activity in bed involving a stick, 2 balls and a hole.
