Is a server selector bannable?

So, I have seen that there is now a user made server selector that basically manages firewall rules and such.

Do you think this is bannable? I know all its doing is adjusting firewall rules on the fly, but since it runs with a GUI and is a program, do you think Blizzard will eventually detect this as a cheat or exploit?

What exactly is a server selector doing?

Description: A simple program allows you to select the server you want to play on.

The program simply works by adding the block remote ip’s rules to wf.msc (Firewall with Advance Security). Existing servers for example AU, EU, ME, NA-West, and NA-East. If ME is blocked, the match maker of overwatch will test the best ping you have if it is significant it will choose this server for you and search for a game. Some times the match making gets you in bad server for you, for example if your best is EU, it gets you to ME one game out of 100.

Another issue where some EU players want to play on NA. Even if you change the region it gets you back to EU. The solution is to block EU and ME severs and change the region to NA. In addtion, some NA players wants to choose from West and East, which will be a feature of the program.

If its a third party program it could flag it while the game is running.

You have to decide whether its worth the risk yourself because you won’t get a sincere answer here otherwise.

Meh.

Going to not be lazy and just configure the firewall rules myself on a network level. Was worth a shot, true that Blizzard or anybody with a clue wouldn’t respond.

Its a third party program not authorized by Blizzard and would run in the background changing rules using something like a script. That could be flagged by the game.

The risk is on your end

You are giving them a reason to ban you by doing if they decide to disallow it.
Block the ips manually if bothers you so much. Idk why one even needs a program to do that.

Technically it’s an application you run before you even start battle net. But yeah fair enough, can just manually do it.

No, no way you get banned over this. There are people running free with literal wallhacks, you won’t get banned for automating the modification of your own firewall. Do the modifications and close it if you want to “feel” more safe, but it wouldn’t matter.

Pretty sure they get banned.

On that note: Does anybody have a comprehensive list on server IP Ranges for MEA?
Only have these:

157.175.0.0-157.175.255.255
15.185.0.0-15.185.255.255
15.184.0.0-15.184.255.255

No, you have control of your own network. GeoIP filters are now even more essential since Russia went crazy. I pay for yearly IP blocking suite. Major companies and places like colleges also do this. Only way they can stop this is set min latency requirements.

If you don’t plan on changing servers on the fly while running the game then that’s something entirely different. I thought you were talking about choosing preferred servers at specific times of the day.

If you’re going to change all of it before opening the app then it’s probably fine.

It is bannable.

C. **License Limitations.** Blizzard may suspend or revoke your license to use the Platform, or parts, components and/or single features thereof, if you violate, or assist others in violating, the license limitations set forth below. It’s not bannable. Stop the bs. It is standard windows configuration. It does not interact with the game in any way.

Having firewall rules and system settings on a network level does not facilitate the changes of gameplay or other functionality. Technically having a VPN then is bannable, but its not.

My problem was that Blizzard should just come out with a stance, or you know what? Give us an actual server selector.

No it is not. It does not change gameplay or function.

Pretty much anything that alters the way the game plays is going to get you banned.

…troll? Or doesn’t know what a firewall is?

Oh just shut up. Everyone here is trying to keep this guy from getting in trouble but you. So just piss off.
