We can all overexaggerate here but that doesnt bring the discussion forward mate. The showcase were with OWL players and those dudes are the top 1% of the top 1%.
This game is an FPS and you have to push in X seconds, now you dont have 2 CDS to extend team fights 30 sec. This is not an FFA, the issue is that OW became a CD contest of “peek and hide” and having team fights lasting 2 mins was NOT intended at all.
I dont think you remember how BAD Double shield was because it was literally shooting shields for 80% is of the time and grasping for air to try to get a flank and shoot someome to force out a CD.
That needed to stop.
And Shields nerfs were not enough.
5v5 will do it.
Maybe 6v6 was flawed from the beginning? Much reliance on the team, but most people want to play solo or duo. 6v6 has a lot of visual clutter and it’s pretty hard to coordinate anything or keep track of all players. 5v5 is the format that most of the popular titles already have csgo, dota2, lol, siege, valorant to name a few.
I think 5v5 helps coming up with better strategies, as it’s easier to coordinate (not just OWL only type of thing). Teamwork will be still the major factor, as it is in all of the titles I mentioned before. Good players can carry or dominate, but in a way it’s easier for enemy team to coordinate and focus the carry with fewer variables
Not to mention every single game that has a tank, dps and support always has a tank shortage. Having only one tank makes it more futureproof in terms of overall queue times too
Wrong again! - Snipers were also the cause (paired with the introduction of Sigma to the game without any balancing AND the introduction of forced 2-2-2 in the same week as eachother)
Not really. It is probably the best way they could handle powercreep while also making the sequel feel fresh gameplay-wise.
But really, there’s no way to know as of right now. Nobody here had tried ow2, and honestly we don’t know much about changes done to heroes for the new format. The game is still in development, there was no alpha test even.
Is 5v5 a mistake? Based on what we’ve seen so far, probably so. Hopefully, we’ll see some improvements on the format in the coming months.
They’ll have to move quickly though. With OWL starting in April, they will need a functional 5v5 with the current roster by January. Teams will need something to practice on, and it can’t be something with a chunk of the current roster being redesigned. Time will tell.
I will reserve judgement, however from what I’ve seen, I do not worry much. The solo tanks will get buffed enormously to fill the solo role they have. I also do not have to worry about a tank buddy that is severely under performing, and people do not have to worry about facing a tank duo that are unbeatable (which happens with double shield for example.
But in any case, I look forward to the PvE more.
Those tanks were melting faster than the polar ice caps. PRO DVA couldn’t stay in his Mech for one full minute much less enough to be a real impact player. You’re wishful thinking here.
