Introduce bans from quickplay for swapping to often

This is the easiest solution I see to everything. Keep an internal list of counters. Every time someone swaps to counters the enemy, when nobody on the enemy team did so first, they make progress toward getting banned from quickplay. The harder the counter is, the more negatively it affects you, so if you swap to ashe against pharah, that will only give you a fraction as much progress as swapping to ana against roadhog. This progress is multiplied if they do so the first time they die against the character they swapped against. I haven’t decided yet whether it would be smart to ban from arcade as well or just quickplay

Now this of course would decay to avoid accidentally tripping up legitimate players. I think an ideal rate would be if you counterswapped in 12 of your past 20 games, you get banned from quickplay for 14 days

It might seem harsh but it’s necessary for the game to function at this point. If you want to play competitive, play competitive. If you can get banned from competitive for treating it like quickplay, there is no reason why you shouldn’t get banned from quickplay for treating it like competitive.

Yes, don’t swap to something better, continue losing and dying instead.

No. Go play a different game

Why would you punish people for playing the game at it’s basest level?

The game at it’s basest level isnt working anymore. Too many hard counters too hard countering.

Imagine if you couldn’t swap entire match?

What would that change for me, exactly?

  1. There are not that many heroes like LoL or Dota to have a ā€œhero banā€ system (yes I know u didn’t say hero ban, but it’s basically the same issue)
  2. If we ever get to the point when there’s a lot of heros (I personally don’t think we will have +50 heroes, ever), then a more ā€œjustā€ solution would be basically no swaps, but even if they implement that, I can only, maybe, see that in ranked, and not QP.

It’s working fine… but some people don’t like how it works. That’s all.

Games almost always been like that, some people just for some reason keep wanting it to be paladins or some other such hero shooter where you play just 1 character the whole game.

why did you even bother posting this horrendous idea

Try playing tank some time, saying it works is just incorrect.

Why do people complain about counter-swapping as if they themselves are incapable of doing the same thing.

I am incapable of doing the same thing. It is not fair that I should be put at a disadvantage for having standards…

Lmao. How did we get from nobody switching to demands for switch bans?

I play tank ALL the time. I really don’t know what you mean. Yes you have to swap a lot if the other tank knows how the counters work… that’s part of the game.

So swapping after every fight is part of the game?

For tank it is. Now.

They are not entirely wrong about that. It is more or less an expectation of the role which is why it is phasing out OG such as myself. We just can’t hang with the kids no more. Times are changing!

This game was designed for swapping if they ban for swapping then all games would be stomps.

It is more than just phasing out the OG tank players, but not getting any new ones. There is a single tank now, and it is STILL the bottleneck.

It is not working, regardless of what anybody says, the reality we see play out in game says otherwise.

It can be.

I know I still get an occasional ā€œomg really countering me instantly?ā€, but dood… understand the game and play it… don’t get sour cause other people are willing to play at a level you aren’t.

Don’t get me entirely wrong, I’d love to ball or JQ all game, I get what people WANT to do… but that’s not what this game is and never has been.
